Tight Track after Skid Frame Removal and Reinstall

Thanks for the suggestion, Sevey. I inspected the rear axle and there was no more than 1/4" of slot in front. We pulled the axle right to the forward limit and aligned the track. The adjuster nuts were just snugged up and the bolt thread barely meets the nylon insert in the nut. Measured track...

Tight Track after Skid Frame Removal and Reinstall

Hi Folks, Here's what I have: 2013 short track, base model, 1.25 track (original), 96 studs. Both limiter straps in lowest holes (unchanged). Last summer I pulled out the skid frame and overhauled it: new slides, bearings where needed, and had both shocks rebuilt. Reinstalled it and discovered...

Surprise Oil Leak - but quickly resolved

I'm sure I haven't ridden it that hard since buying it a few months ago ... although everyone's suggestion is probably valid. I don't think the filter was cross threaded either, judging by how smoothly it spun off (still possible though). Maybe the extreme cold temperature had something to do...

Surprise Oil Leak - but quickly resolved

Yes, we also checked for another o-ring being stuck to the engine block, as well as the condition of the one in the old filter. Everything seemed normal. We even checked the old filter part # to see if it was right - it was. I agree the theory about the thicker oil isn't totally acceptable...

Surprise Oil Leak - but quickly resolved

That was the first thing we all checked for, but there was no indication of water (color, etc).

Surprise Oil Leak - but quickly resolved

Hey Folks, Just wanted to share some info that may help other owners at some point. I started up the sled last Saturday after it was sitting for about a week of very cold temps (mid Ontario). Fired up right away, but within one minute there was a pool of engine oil on the floor...??? Took...

    Idler Wheel set-up

Thank you to all who replied. All very good information. grizztracks: I think that is a good bet about the original owner returning the OEM shock and hence, the missing wheel. In any case, I'm installing a replacement wheel along with a 4th wheel kit tomorrow. Oh, and here's a photo from...

    Idler Wheel set-up

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could comment on the idler wheel set-up shown in the pictures below. This is my 2013 FX Nytro (121") as it was purchased from the dealer with 4,600 km on it (had only one previous owner). The main question I have is - why the large inner wheel only on the...

    Running rough during warmup

Thanks to everyone who replied. Happy to report that new plugs and fresh gas appear to have done the trick. I guess the real test will be first ride of the season, but for now it sounds great.

    Running rough during warmup

Hi All, My 2013 fx nytro has 4,500 km on it. Bought it from the dealer last month (no warranty). It starts up Instantly but sounds weak as if not firing on all 3 during warm up. After warm up throttle response is lagging with occasional backfire. Today we drained the gas, which could be ancient...

The journey from Phazer to Nytro ended yesterday. Thanks to all members who contributed to this thread ... you guys rock. Here's the result after a 1,000 km (620 mile) round trip in one day in order to pick up the sled and bring it home (plus a lot of weeks leading up to it)...

Thanks very much. One restriction I have right now is I need to trade in the Phazer in order to upgrade. Otherwise, I would be interested in your RTX - excellent mods. This is my approach for now, but I may have to sell privately if things don't pan out, say, by end of September.

    From Phazer to Nytro

Hey folks, I'm still working on a few deals and here's one I wanted to ask about. I'm told this is an 09, but the colors look different - both the hood and front end are blacked out. Is this stock or a custom job? Thanks so much. Here's the link...

Thanks so much to everyone who replied. Here is the sled I'm going to look at soon. If I like the condition it will likely be coming home. Can anyone tell what skis are on it? Thanks. http://parkwayyamaha.ca/Pre-Owned/adid/13646575/

    From Phazer to Nytro

Thanks to both members who provided good information. Does anyone find the XTX difficult to handle in twisty trails (about 25% of a typical day for my ride)? I've never owned a long track machine and wonder if I'm missing a lot in terms of (better) handling, but don't want to work really hard...
