Yes, we also checked for another o-ring being stuck to the engine block, as well as the condition of the one in the old filter. Everything seemed normal. We even checked the old filter part # to see if it was right - it was. I agree the theory about the thicker oil isn't totally acceptable...

Thanks to both members who provided good information. Does anyone find the XTX difficult to handle in twisty trails (about 25% of a typical day for my ride)? I've never owned a long track machine and wonder if I'm missing a lot in terms of (better) handling, but don't want to work really hard...
