I did not find any difference or increase in noise between the quiet lugs on the stock track or no quiet lugs on the aftermarket Rip2. I was really expecting it to be louder as my Doo's had very noisy tracks under them without the quiet lugs, but for whatever reason, I find the aftermarket track...
Thats what I'm running now is the 1.25" Rip2 aftermarket fully clipped and no quiet lugs. I find it to be the better track. The stock track does alot of stretching to settle in, the aftermarket does not. Not sure why that would be the case, just what I have found. I never had to tighten the...
If the shim was in place but not seated the valve clearance should have been tight.... And the only way to get the buckets out is to remove the cam. Real fun job as you are finding out.
Typically it spits the shim right out. I had a shim spit once and got lucky the shim was there and one...
I can tell you this, I have been running Aggressive SnowTrackers since they came out on Doo skis, setting zero toe is easy and should be done. Cranking up the front arm spring is not needed when I run them on my Doo skis on the ProCross. I in fact go the other way, and loosen the front arm...
17-18 were the same, the change came in 2019. And the newer sleds slowed down from the 17's and 18 with that new clutching and reverse angle helix. It was supposed to limit belt blowing and belt heat.
Yes, they will need to be tested and proven for sure.
I thought of that idea on hydraulic clutches 30+ years ago now for drag racing and brought it to Dick Schmidt who was our race director for MADRAG. He also worked for Rice Lake Machine and Design at the time.... As I recall, it was not...
I had to clearance the width of my 23's secondary to install the Hi-Torque rollers. They would not go in and spin. I'm only guessing here that the dies or casting used in production of the clutches are getting worn perhaps, but the bottoms were tapered where the rollers would not go in properly...
Right. Pistons don’t get hurt from blowing a belt. The valves sure can though but typically it would spit a shim on the exhaust cam side if the valves hit.
No two gauges will read the same. I had a snap on gauge that always read low like that, another gauge that read high. They will be...
What makes you think there is a problem? Are you running a different wastegate than stock or shimmed? Typical boost on header tunes are not typically as high as 19 lbs. More like high 17 to 18 lbs as the wastegate can't stay shut with exhaust pressure.
You may notice more boost with less RPM...
First I've seen of this "dreaded crack".
Is it there because of bottoming out of the chaincase and "casing it" on bumps or something? Or is it from high speed and constant vibration? I see no other reason for a crack in that area myself.
Well no studs or just a minimal amount of studs is very fast if your looking for speed. You will easily kill off 10 MPH or more by adding a drag type stud package depending on how fast one wants to go. I like to go quick from A-B in 660-1000 foot and want to get there first, so studs are...
Glad its working well now Art. I was afraid that reverse angle 35-39 helix and stock spring & rollers was giving you the trouble in those varying conditions. Hard to beat the straight 35 for those wildly varying snow conditions like that. I have no idea why Yamaha wanted to use that reverse...
Glenn,
When I had an original AEM module go bad, I just ordered one off of Amazon, cut the plug off the original one and spliced it onto the Amazon bought AEM module. It worked like a champ since and I have it on my 23 now too, works fine. Someone said something here about a Can Bus and the...
Looking at the log you are at 60% throttle there and whacking it quick. It needs fuel to accelerate the engine. It leans back out once it’s thru that phase. Totally normal. If it didn’t richen up it wouldn’t rip up thru there and would be too lean and you’d have a lean pop.
I disagree. Running them every month in the summer is very hard on them, even if they come up to temp.
Just getting them to temp is not enough to cook the water out of the oil, or blow out the condensation from even the pipe.
If I run for a short time, I always run it on the stand with...
