Well, here's a firsthand report. I have QS3r's on the winder and Elka stage 4 on the Viper and this report is from riding all last week (6 Days and 1500 miles). With the QS3r's I had the fronts revalved and couldn't be happier with the results, I was finally able to use all 3 settings. Also had...
I agree, just returned home from 6 days of riding. Seven units (packtalk bold), everyone listens to music. Most units last at least 8 hours without a charge but we carry battery packs to put on a charge if needed. Music is muted when in conversation (which is most of the time with the knobs I...
I'll be honest too. I can afford to buy a new sled but like kyster can't bring myself to spend all that money. My 18 LTX LE winder has 7,500 miles on it and my 16 RTX Viper has 3,800 miles on it. Just stay the course with what I have for a few more years. Both sleds are well maintained with lots...
There are 4 Vipers in our group, 2 14 MY with over 15,000 miles and 2 16 MY with one having 13,000 miles and we have never had a starter issue. All sleds do have the latest flash.
It is or more known as LTX SE. Well, it could be a lot of things going on. First thing is the front shocks are Fox air shock. Do they compress any when you push down on the front bumper or does the bumper start to bend? They are known for being harsh, unpredictable, impossible to set air...
Any muffler will bolt on with no modifications needed. With that said most aftermarket mufflers will be louder than stock. You can try Barn of Parts for a stock exhaust, he should have one. I put a trail muffler on mine from Schmidt Bros, it's just slightly louder than stock and not obnoxious...
Yeah sorry you have found the best set up for your riding conditions. Duponts are pricey and not for everyone, with a good suspension set up stock hyfax do pretty good.
Did you try Accelerated Technologies GR8BBQ? I recently got them, and they were in stock.
I run them for better rolling resistance and increased fuel economy....that's not the only thing to wear out if running in low snow conditions, it's not for me. I can wait for conditions to improve.
Well done, Joe. You did your homework, and it will pay off with a reliable rocket for trail riding. One thing I feel is often overlooked is the suspension. Not saying your shock package is bad but it's very limited on a SE.
Both belts will run different RPM's. The worst thing to happen would be changing some weight around on your heavy hitter fly weights. I believe the Ultimax will run lower RPM's but I'm not 100% sure, as GR8BBQ said the boys at Thunder will steer you in the right direction.
I ride with 2 other 998's, one a tcat the other a winder and they are both stock. I'm tuned with hurricane cluster flash SS CL SM and clutched. Neither one of those stock machines get anywhere close to my mpg's. The guy riding the tcat gets the worst (10 mpg) because he thinks the flipper is an...
