take all the rubbers off of the coils and put them back in place. then try and start sled in a dark garage/shed. if the coils are bad, you will see arcing to the head down beside the coils on the bad coils.
you can also try bypassing tors or check throttle cable tension as that can cause...
also, make sure all the hoses from the engine/oil tank to the air box (intake) are on. with one from oil tank off/compromised my old rx war would burn way more oil than normal when riding.
guys used to put the rx warrior/attack/apex ltx top gear in on the 121 apex/rx 1 for better hole shot.
if memory serves, the 05 rx sleds shared the same drive shaft as the apex/attack sleds. from what i am seeing in that part # that chain case should work. this article i found explains how...
check the oil tank for a crack as it is a known issue on these sleds. also check the hose from the tank to the oil pump as mine started splitting around the 20000 mi mark. i caught it before it leaked.
glad you are ok. odds are there is one around that someone took the motor for a plane/helicopter that the chassis is just sitting around. i have faith you will get it back together at some point.
you could try running yamaha ring free through it in the gas as it was a known issue with the 03 rx1 sleds. it removes the carbon from the rings allowing them work how they should. i have used oven cleaner on an old carboned up polaris sled to get the rings unstuck as it only had 20 psi on...
sounds like starter took a dump. most likely a magnet broke loose inside and jammed up the starter. common. make sure you use an oe or good quailty after market one as it sucks to have to do it twice. changing starter solenoid is recommended as well.
i would say one of the stx models or a venture of some type. some of them had removable 2 up seat for soloing and will have enough punch for a boys ride.
i adjusted it once after 1st season of riding. i check the adjustment every season. it was out almost 1/2 the hole when i went to adjust it at time of failure. sled has 6500 mi on it atm.
making me paranoid on the 11 now lol. it was still in adjustment perfectly when i got it done back...
there is a tors switch in the throttle block as well. i have seen a few that failed there. just bypass the one in the block the same way and see if that cures it.
