Out of the blue on Saturday (before my header cracked) my digital temp gage went crazy which means it's low on coolant. I think I'm good about looking my sled over and was surprised that I was down so much on coolant. No visible leaks coming form under the sled. So with 24K miles on the sled...
I THINK that because my chassis has so many miles on it the engine is flexing the chassis so I need more "give" so the exhaust can move more than what the stock flex pipes allow for. Could be that the motor mounts are worn and need replacing. I don't know.
Good idea, but I'm unemployed right now so the Warden wouldn't be happy if I spent MORE to fix my sled than I'm doing now. It's POSSIBLE that I have a small leak somewhere and a pressure test will at least hoses and connections.
My sled does have almost 24K miles on it.
The stock flex pipes seem OK. I've bought from Travis for a long time. This is what I'm talking about:

I'm replacing both the header and muffler assy. in my 05 Vector. I would like to install aftermarket flex pipes as FX Garage offers. But as I'm unemployed and need to do things as cost-effective (cheap) as possible, almost $400 for the FX Garage ones. I've seen them on Amazon for under $25...
I posted this on the RS forum but got no replies so I thought I'd post it here.
I need to pressure test my cooling system to see if I have a small head gasket leak. Does anyone have the testing kit that I can borrow? Or what might be my options. None of my local friends has a bore scope that...
I haven't believed them since they took over. Munising was great back in then 80's and 90's. Won't go near the place anymore. Fool me once...fool me twice...you know the rest.
I know. I have a 2005 Vector which I bought in February 2005. Rode 700 miles the rest of the season and was going to dump the sled because it rode so bad. A friend sold me his lightly used M10. I've been in heaven ever since!
My friend has the 2014 Apex and wants to install a digital temperature gage. Any suggestions on a cost effective (not cheap nor expensive) setup?
Thanks!
I'm the original owner of an 05 Vector. 24K miles. What do I need to pressure test the cooling system? It's the small cap on the overflow tank that has me wondering how to do it.
I want to check if I have a head gasket leak.
Thanks!
Put in a FAST M10 and never look back. Used ones are out there and mount kits (easy) from FAST are available too. Or try barnofparts.com for a replacement skid or rails. I don't think it's worth fixing it though. Those skids ride terrible IMO.
