On the plugs fouling, an easy way to understand why.... Even though it is fuel injected, it still runs really rich (choked) when cold/started. This is where the carbon comes from. The cooler temperatures on all the contact points is what leads to the carbon buildup. Allowing it to get fully up...
We start and run them all year long. Every couple weeks we start them and let them warm up fully then shut them off. It keeps the battery charged and fuel going through the system.
I was always taught to let them warm up to keep from gumming up and fouling the plugs.
NH has had a "forced" club join for each year and it has been very successful. It does NOT require another sticker on your sled though (that seems redundant).
I say "forced" because if you don't join a club (before registering), you pay an automatic additional 30.00 at the time of registration...
On my new 2015 ViperXTXSE I still occasionally have hard start issues. For me the best method to avoid the kick and possible back fire is to simply stay on the key a fraction of a second longer. I can easily see how starters could be toasted based on the kick backs.
Are they still tweeking the...
Most of the types I see were designed for 2 strokes with the steep start.
Does anyone know the brand Ulmer sells? He has never done me wrong with info or products.
What weight and profile to start with? They show a lot of options.

Do you know how they compare to what Ulmer sells?
2015 Viper XTX SE
I did the COTC mods last year and aside from the weights being a pain to change, it was good all around.
I will be machining the clutches as well as a few other things before the season this year.
I would like to be able to change out the weights easily. What are good ones...
Duraflex mounted on the skis. They work great but we do go through them. Last year they improved their crimp and that helped, but we still go through them.
In their defense, we never use them during good conditions, only crappy conditions and we rarely do ice lake runs so for us it is bad...
Hey Guys,
I am going to go look at a motor for my sons 08 Nytro on Wed and I was wondering where the mileage is stored? The ECU or the cluster?
The guy has it all parted out and "thought" it had 2500 miles on it.
I was going to take another nytro with me and either plug in the ecu or...
Thanks for that drawing cannondale, we are making one now. My buddy with the machine shop said he could make several more if there is interest.
I found the two clip types and good pricing here,
For the shoulder clip...
The viper in my picture above is no longer with us (RIP Viper 1.0) a pinned throttle and a 200 yard sprint that involved 3 outstanding crashes did her in.
However, to the point above. The screws worked great however unless you put them in perfectly, repeated bending of the paddle will cause the...
One of my riding buddies has a 2012 Apex XTX and it is sweet for the steering. I don't notice any difference in height to the 08 but then I never ride them back to back.
I would say the Apex with the PS is the best "smooth groomed trail" sled made, hands down. Still, the ergos of the Viper are...
Sounds dreamy. Seriously, which of these "yamaha rep" quotes should we start to get excited by?
So far I have heard..........
1. Yamaha will continue to work with AC on new products and try to get more production here state-side
2. Yamaha will stop working with AC
3. Yamaha has new sleds...
I have a 2015 Viper XTX SE and I would not go back to the Apex for anything. One of my riding buddies switched with me last weekend and took the viper for a 50+ mile run.
Getting off the Apex I felt like I was run hard and put away wet.
1. Turning on the Apex (2008 Attak) easily double the...
What the real shame is, is it usually takes a lawsuit to get the manufacturers to make the change and often times even the payout on that (which the lawyers get) it is still cheaper to not actually fix the problem.
Sorry to hear about your loss buddah, I am on Viper 2.0 myself this year after...
