I did the COTC mods last year and aside from the weights being a pain to change, it was good all around.
I will be machining the clutches as well as a few other things before the season this year.
I would like to be able to change out the weights easily. What are good ones to use with the Viper?
Thanks

I think once a guy is done modding all the wieghts work fine but when you want to change things and do it out in field nothing beats the Magnaforce weights. Tuning is sooo easy especially if you have the clutch compressor along and you can get at all the positions even the tip very easily without removing the weights.

What weight and profile to start with? They show a lot of options.

Do you know how they compare to what Ulmer sells?

Just remember the weight profile, or curve changes everything. The more curve the more it changes how much weight you need and even effects upshift. The point being if you have COTC dialed in you cannot put in curve profile weights same weight and expect same results. I recommend a weight with as flat a profile as possible if you do go adjustable.
I recommend you take your COTC setup with you when you test adjustable weights so you can revert quickly and not lose a trip.

53-69 magnaforce weights are what you'd want, they'll work in anything from a stock viper up to 190hp turbo, but like stingray said it's more than likely going to totally change your clutch setup cuz they're an aggressive weight, adjustments can be done in a snap though.
I wouldn't worry at all. I have run both. COC is just a bit smoother. Once you use these and start tuning in freezing cold you will never go back! By the way this is the tool EVERY clutch tuner should own. With this even tip wieght can be changed with the same litte Allen wrench the set screws use. Just pop a magnet out or in. Notice my magnets and Allen are right with tool. Last winter I made a 500 rpm change in 15 minutes which includes 2 runs,2 changes and belt removal. No way can be done with any other weights.

I have tried many weights and keep coming back to Super Torquer Draggin Flies---nothing I have tried pulls as hard. The problem is the 3 cylinder motor is hard on these weights and the more power you add via turbo the quicker they wear. I may try to harden them this year or try some D&D weights.
Mine are not showing any wear in 3500mi or so. Nice even pattern from rollers also. Have seen some other adjustable weights roller pattern more to one side than other. Can't be good.

We have a set of magnaforce weights in an apex that have just over 5000 miles on them with the original belt and the thing still runs spot on every time, not quite the power of a boosted sled, but holding up good, they're not the most desireable setup on the apex cuz they really make it lunge, but that's what we like lol same as on the viper, they probably aren't the smoothest cuz they are very aggressive, but with a low engagement primary spring they work awesome, smooth when you need it, but mash the throttle and rev quick and load hard.

All aftermarket adjustable weights are good, but I am sticking with the Thunder Products (heavy hitter weights). Very easy to adjust and figure out rpms.
Thunder Products will be advertising on TY very soon, just figuring out the perticulars.

Heavy Hitters are some very good adjustable weights ! Ran them for years then last year I went to super tips and those seem to be working pretty good to

Lots of options out there which is good for the consumer. I plan to regear from 21/29 to 24/49 for this season which will likely create need for a clutching change. A track change is also in my future. the 1.75" sno-x track that I like so much for traction is shedding lugs. I hope to get another season out of it before I change. Planning to try the 1.6 cobra on the Renegade and if I like it I'll probably put one on the Viper. For now I'm waiting on Ulmer to finalize his setup for this season before I do anything. Heavier base weight and a slightly different profile on the same Supertip tunable platform is what I am told.

You won't be dissapointed with the 1.6 cobra, very good track.
I changed my gearing from 21/41 to 22/40 and my clutching rpms went down about 200. Crazy how that changes everything.

Most of the types I see were designed for 2 strokes with the steep start.
Does anyone know the brand Ulmer sells? He has never done me wrong with info or products.

Ulmer uses Supertip. Requires tools to change setting, so not as neat as the magnets, but highly adjustable setup.
New profile will allow more loading of the tip. I really like the way that the current ones hit out of the corners so I'm debating if I will change or not.
