Ski pressure will effect darting quite a bit. It's hard to say whether you need to go loose or tighter but I almost always have seen too much ski pressure being a bigger culprit. Not enough can be a factor also. As I said before, I always go back to square one with minimal preload and start...
Check alignment. A well setup suspension and Curve skis should give you very little darting, if any, even without the leading edge. Check ski alignment and start with less ski pressure on the skid if they dart. Reduce front shock preload and/or the front skid shock. One change at a time.
Look at your ski shocks also. If you have them pumped up high or a lot of preload, you will get a lot more sag in the rear. Some rear sag with no rider on the sled is very normal. Does the front squat at all when you get on the machine or does just the rear sag?
I don't subscribe to stingrays...
As long as it starts smooth and ok, there is no way it's going to potentially damage the starter based on whether you wait for the pump to cycle or not.
I've only seen the hot start issue twice and both times it fired as soon as I cracked the throttle, like starting an old carbed sled. I have...
If you get a chance, post a pic of that "guesset" when you get the new muffler. I've got the older version with the painted ends. I'm wondering if it is going to meet the same fate as yours.
#$%&*#$%&* I guess this is not just a case of a couple bad ones making it out there. Do you guys have the polished newer cans or the earlier version with the coating on the top and bottom?
What was MBRP's response besides obviously replacing them? Did they claim a bad batch?
How many miles does your friend that also has a cracked can have on it?
I've always said these were a "budget" muffler but that's completely ridiculous at 900 miles. I took a look at mine. It looks ok. With only 225 miles, it better! Appreciate you posting this to let others know to keep an...
Also decrease the preload on the front skid shock to the near minimum if it's not already. Adjust from there to start. Usually they are wound up to tight and it hurts handling.
I ran 6" Bergstroms with ski savers when I ran Curves. Good combo. I don't see any reason not to run 8" if you want and never found them too aggressive. I never ran the leading edge or found a need to. It also doesn't hurt to shim them. I had the usual uneven front carbide wear when running...
Unfortunately running great shocks like those RC2's in the front is going to really show the weakness of the stock skid shock valving and limited adjustment. Pulling up the limiters some helps with the push and cornering on the not so great cornering 141. Good skis, and I don't mean tuners...
I've had good luck with the Dayco XTX belts on a 270+ hp machine. That's all I run on it now. As long as the dimensions and compound works for you, I don't think you will be unhappy it. Though as far as belts go, for everyone that likes a certain belt, there is always someone that says it's junk:p
I finally put a few (literally) miles on the trail can. I didn't notice it sounding any louder than stock while riding, which is a good thing. I clutched it for just below 9000 last season and now I'm seeing 9100+ 9200 with the can. Time to add some weight. So far so good.
Did you race together before the exhaust change? How much RPM did you gain after adding the can?
I haven't run mine yet but hopefully this week. I will post my results. I'm not expecting much but since it was a low cost replacement for the questionable quality original muffler, with close to...
The Cat dual rate springs are ok for some but if you want to use the softer rate of the dual spring you better be careful how much you preload it. If you are jacking up the spring like the discussion in this thread you, probably won't get the soft side of the rate. For example, the 100/250...
True but the complaints were with the fox float models. Not so much with the coil overs. They may have finally revalved the floats they are currently using. Let's hope. You guys have a float 3 in the rear? I've never compared the valving to the float 2 they were using.
