600 rpm loss? Were you talking about the Ulmer or Excell modified stock can on a NA sled?

Can’t seem to get my XTX to hook up...

That lower front skid shock axle can be replaced with a steel one from the Cat race sleds. It's not uncommon to bend the stock piece.

    Side panel vent question

    It's a 137" XF.

    Side panel vent question

Our sled is the same year and even color Cat 7000 as his. His has the different deflectors inside the panel than ours. That's what it was in reference to.

    Side panel vent question

Our 14' cat 7000 doesn't have the splitter between primary and secondary either on the inner panel. I doubt it does much. They never stuck with that idea on the panels. I always remove the side panel foam. I did more work for venting on my turbo but the 7000 never concerned me as far as needing...

    Back fire on start up

Got the newest flash? Heard of it happening with a bunch of sleds but haven't seen it with ours and the new flash yet. How cold was it?

Sr Viper 2016 flash poll and Thread

So far with the new flash we have been seeing 1 attempt to get it started during first start of the day. Very minimal use this season so far and no temps below 10F. I had a couple of times where it took two attempts to get it running but that was during the off season doing some work on it...

    Cold starting

Agreed. -10 -15 I've never had an issue with the 4-strokes starting that I've owned. If those temps were a regular issue to get it started, I wouldn't own the sled.

    Replacement skies for 2014 Viper

What are you asking for them? I went the opposite route. Had curves and swapped them for SLP skis and never looked back. Might be interested in another pair of SLT's for another sled.

    4th wheel kit or not.

Here is my take on the 4 wheel kits. I like to add the cheap outer 2 wheel kit while new keeping the tri-hub. Reason 1 being for safety in case an inner bearing happened to go out, 2 being that I think it takes some load off the the 2 bearings with 4 vs 2. I don't subscribe to the "sky is...

    Replacement skies for 2014 Viper

SLP SLT skis with your choice of carbides. Great skis with easy turning pressure and probably the most dart free ski you can buy. Better than stock Viper or Cat skis. They wont break the bank either. Guaranteed she will love them. Lots Snow tracker posts here but I'm not a big fan and...

    Oil separator, major problem!

Yeah I haven't really heard it being a huge issue but figured it's quick and easy so might as well do it. Annoys me that I went through the whole sled and completely forgot it was on my to do list. I'll end up pulling it out and doing it to stop myself slightly OCD self from thinking about it...

    Oil separator, major problem!

I haven't cleaned the separator since we've had the sled and meant to do it during pre season maintenance when I have the muffler off. :o| What has to come off to get it out? Can it be done with the hood still on? Thanks guys. ;)

What carbides for the curve ski's

I used Bergstrom's when I used curve skis. Worked well. I like Shapers also. You will get 1 million opinions on carbide choice

    Do I need clutching????

I use the D&D kit with the big dog weights and a Sandale muffler on our 14' 7000. The weights aren't adjustable but in my case they didn't need to be. It works great. RPM was bang on at 9k max with the combo. Tell them you want the kit for a sled with an aftermarket muffler. The weights are a...

    Flash Update Coming Fall-2016

I wouldn't think any dealer would charge for the reflash. My opinion on the flash has changed since losing a starter. I had no issues besides the very occasional hot start that was no big deal on the next attempt if I cracked the throttle. I had no plans for the reflash based on complaints about...

    Cable scratchers

I drilled here. Works great. Same set of scratchers since 2014 and no issues. I let the sled sit with the scratchers down when it's not riding. You hear lots of people complain about the cable type but I've had more issues (replaced 2) with my wire type than the cable type on this one. We run...

Sr Viper 2016 flash poll and Thread

I wouldn't call it splitting hairs nor should we be embracing this technology. The starter issue has lingered on way too long especially when you have two manufacturers involved. It's going on model year 5 without a definite fix. With that being said, I've been a cheerleader of having no...

    4th wheel kit

I think adding outside wheels when using the tri-hub prolong the life. We added the outside wheels to our tri-hub (versions before the replaceable bearings) on 2 of our sleds and ran them for 2 seasons each. Both had about 2500 miles when I pulled them apart. Bearings were starting to make a...
