New Ecu flash for Yamaha Viper/Arctic cats 7000 w/POLL

One thing that I've noticed since the flash, is that no matter how you start it, it takes a couple/few seconds of cranking to start cold. I've tried cycling the fuel pump, and not cycling the pump, and it just starts the same. Once warm, I've had some funny starts. Once, a backfire, but not as...

    Skis...again?

I wouldn't drill them, I'd just get the right bolts and bushings. That's the ski/carbide combination that I use and I love it.

    Viper Battery Life

I bought my sled used at the end of the season 2017 and had to replace the battery. I bought a stock replacement from my local dealer. In the fall the battery was dead. The dealer replaced it and warrentied it for 1 year. Saturday it was -25C and couldn't get the sled started without a booster...

    Drive/jackshaft bearing repacking

I think I would try to clean up the splines with a small file or some sandpaper. The clip probably has shoved a bit of a burr on the edge of the spline. I'm pretty sure there's info in the stickies about it.

New Ecu flash for Yamaha Viper/Arctic cats 7000 w/POLL

I have the XF 7000. Very similar to your Crosstrek. Except for clutch/drive belt and body panels, the 7000 is identical to the Viper and all the info is applicable to our sleds.

    2020 Release

A great Canadian band Three Days Grace had a song called "Let's Start A Riot!" It would make an amazing song for a promotional ad... Google it!

    Sr viper primary clutch questions

I have the 7000 and while some of the things I've heard about earlier Cat clutches had me a little afraid, I LOVE the Cat clutches. Easy maintenance, good belt life, and low engagement! I had a Nytro and anyone that's ridden one of those knows what they are like to ride around the yard/parking...

I've had it happen, get the Cat skis. They are better and cheap.

First thing you need to do is check the toe in. It's where everything starts.

    Loose A-arm bolt!!!

I did a post on this last year, when I bought my sled used I was doing some maintenance and found that ALL the bolts on the frame soars had rattled loose! 1/2hr job if you are already in there to Loctite the nuts. Made the sled way more stiff.

    Skid shock removal?

I just did mine a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty easy. The only hard part is the top bolt. It's so long that it touches the gusset on the front arm and it makes it a little hard to get it out and in. Nothing terrible. Next time I have the skid out, I'll grind a couple of millimeters off the...

New Ecu flash for Yamaha Viper/Arctic cats 7000 w/POLL

Not to hijack the thread, but what is involved in the EVO flash. Is it available in Canada, how much, and from whom?

    Skis...again?

I run the Cat skis with semi-aggresive Sno Trackers, Bill Mohr center shock spring. Mines an LTX and I love it. The Tuners work fine on a groomed trail but it doesn't take much loose snow for them to push, and forget about off trail with them!

    torsion blocks

I never take mine off, I always almost break a finger or knuckle screwing with them!

    What is this plastic piece?

On the Cat microfiche it's called a retainer pin. Part Number: 6606-592 It's on the page with the Skid Plate And Side Panel. Not sure if they use different numbers.

    2016 XTX Driveshaft Bearing

You either have to split the caliper, or pull the caliper and rotor off the drive shaft. I split mine because I couldn't get the bearing and caliper to move on the shaft. It's easy to do, you'll just have to to bleed the brake after. Do a search and you should be able to find the info.

New Ecu flash for Yamaha Viper/Arctic cats 7000 w/POLL

I could be wrong, but I get the impression that this flash is to clean up starting issues and it seems to even out the idle also. With the last flash, you are definitely at risk of damaging backfires. I have had backfires that were so severe that I will check my muffler for damage! My buddy had...
