Just giving input on tunnel decals. I put some on my old Nytro, I hated the bumps from the rivets so I cut them all out. That took forever and was super annoying. Like I said, just input. I have seen some sleds up close and it looks great but I was just never happy with mine. Great looking Apex...
1.25 on an 08 RTX (121") with 2 studs per row and we could always pull the sled straight up. i have a video on my Instagram of my friend pulling his skis a good 4 feet up from a stand still but i cant download it to post. now i have a 14 xtx 1.75 and expecting nothing less.
I just put on the Mountaintech Skid plate (shortie) to my sled for peace of mind, added 10 minutes to my oil change to drill out bottom holes and add the bolt up front. it will probably save me time on the next one.
For those that are wondering if the newer sleds have the issue, here's my 14 XTX I just bought with 730 miles, it will be going to the dealer to be fixed under warranty
nydiver has it spot on, i have 35w 5k on my sled, i run 6K on my truck. for snow the 5 still has some blue in it (i think a little blue looks "clean") but shines great. i would not go over the 5k mark on a sled as it will diminish the "brightness" if you go 55w it would be ok to get a darker...
I have been considering doing this same thing with 1 light to help hold wheelies and hard throttle at night, seems the light wants to go just too far up from the headlights and i cant see the trails/little whoops.
I just bought and mounted that same light, i just need to decide how to run all the wiring as i kept the stock plug and as much wire as i could in case i ever have to change lights or do something else with it. How did you run yours underneath and keep it tied up to the sled so it doesn't...
Ill be there at least one day with the old man, he is having a small shoulder surgery the Wednesday before so that will dictate what day we go. Luckily nothing on the "NEED" list year.
i have always thought about doing this when i get a bigger trailer, i would probably go the the junkyard and take bed liners to cut up for ski guides, not as clean looking but i use them for my truck and they work great for super cheap.
as long as nothing is constantly rubbing on the dip it should be fine. i have had it on my wheels of my truck and had no issues through 3 michigan winters.
I did the top of my tunnel on my old Nytro, some of the rear plastics, and my windshields held up fine until I had it covered and in the bed of my truck. The cover would rub and peel and it made the white look dirty after a little. The windshields held up good though.
Just a quick verification, is the 10th digit the year of the sled just like a vehicle? Im going to look at a sled tomorrow and want to be sure its a 14 not a 13. I know my 08 has an 8 on the 10th digit but that's the only vin I have for reference.
I just used a plastic Bone Tool, i have a few of them with different bends and angles, just lift the cover and slide the tool in to hold it over the studs in the tunnel. the midpipe has had plenty of flex to allow the muffler to come up and straight out. Im sure you could just use 1X something...
