Thats exactly it, I decided to try it out with no protective measures after reading the results from the metallurgy testing on the newer updated shafts. I figured id try it out and see what happens. Im pretty observant so its not like I would of ran a driveshaft to the point of causing other...
A complete shaft with drivers was around $300 The last time I checked on Paritzilla. If I get two seasons out of it, I will buy a new one and put it on if my driveshaft decides to wear out. That is a lot better than the 1200 miles I had on my 2020 with excessive wear.Half the gadgets they sell...
That is a great fix for sure and many of had sucess with all the others too but as much as people will disagree with me I run absolutely nothing at all on 2023 and newer shafts. Does it slip? Im sure it does because fit isnt any better but having equal hardness as the bearing it doesnt wear...
From a cold start it should take several several minutes for the sled to get hot. Ive never timed it but it takes a while. It reaches 165-170 and then thermostat opens and temp drops and then takes what feels like forever to get up over 170. This is starting the sled in a 60 degree shop. If your...
reading the article it does not sound any of these changes apply to the 998 clutch, only the 858. The 2025 998 clutch has a different part number and oddly enough started out at over $800 and quickly was down to $350 on country cat for a few weeks and then is now back up to $719. This new part...
Those changes only apply to the 858 I believe. The 2025 9000 clutch has a different part number but has the same spider as before. Hopefully take care of the erratic wear on the weights for the 2 strokes. Rollers and weights seem to wear normal on the 4 strokes. Biggest concern is the crappy...
Personally I am not a fan of the brass shift fork pads. I have used them before but now I stick with oem. I believe if you use one of the dmc or prevost or precision efi etc bushing replacements for the top gear and service your chaincase regularly you will not have issues with shift fork pads...
The torsional kit from Ron Ward is for the cat sleds with team boss/adapt secondary clutches and as fleecer mentioned it converts from a standard compression spring to a torsional spring setup. This greatly improves backshift and response as well as belt grip. Very smooth setup with cool...
Totally normal, Dave at tapp showed a video of warming it with a propane torch to pop it off easy. Not that every clutch will have that snug of a cover but if you do…….light warming while leaving a few bolts close to the cover makes the cover pop off and not go flying. I believe its on tommcats...
Its a true torsional clutch and works better than the team/adapt compression clutch for sure. I think pro4 and stm yield similiar results when setup well. Not a big gain for the yamaha guys switching to an stm or pro4 secondary aside from shiny bling but much larger gains to be had for the cat...
Nice that they offer it in a 146 anyway. Not much choices for the 146 in that lug height as no rip 2 available in that size. Prestudded isnt my first choice but atleast its 2 ply. I believe all prior versions of prestudded were single ply so maybe they are learning single ply isnt the best...
What distance are you referring to? He squeezed it and held it as long as it took to hit full speed. This wasnt a predetermined length……..just a wide open run till the sled hit its full speed.
I am just quoting myself for a friendly reminder of who believed in you and offered emotional support during your journey to earning the crown……unbelievable work to become the “King”. Well deserved!
Both adapt and boss come from the factory as compression and Ron’s set up for both clutches is torsional. He includes a carbide drill bit and a template so you can drill a few holes in your roller hub and you also drill one hole in the clutch next to where the Tang goes for the factory...
Best I could tell was the finish was very close to the factory 49 and slightly less start than the factory. Whatever it is, it works well. I have never cared much for the “feel” of the compression setups unless conditions are perfect. Torsional for me was very noticable regardless of helix used...
Its wrapped pretty light on the cat clutches with the torsion conversion. Not 100% sure it would hinder top end much if any over the compression spring. We ran out of snow of course but was doing some testing with a few different springs as well as Rons helix with factory compression spring and...
