Checked with MrSled and the flaps are discontinued because the guy that was making them vanished . MrSled could not fill the orders and ended up having to refund the money.
I wouldn't say it is a common problem that one grip isn't working, the common problem was that they wouldn't sufficiently heat. I would guess that you have a broken wire inside the grip some place. I would take a multi-meter, check for continuity in the grip to see if you have a broken wire...
They should be all lock nuts...unless someone had taken it apart, or it has tons of miles on it. Most of the time they are so frickin tight you have to break your left nut to get them off! LOL

If the so called dyno run on the 2011 was 153hp what was the run on the 2010 on the same dyno on the same day. Dynos margin of error can be as much as 10 to 15hp if no calibrated properly and some are just inaccurate more then others. If both a 2011 and 2010 Apex...
Based on your other posts you should have clarified your thought in the original one. You first post made it sound like this new sled was not worth a penny...
If a sled has been improved, that makes it better. Better is better no matter how you look at it. It may not be as good as some...
