I honestly think that no matter what clutch solution develops any turbo owner can still break a belt if they want. It's tons of stress on it. I'm at 600 miles with original belt. It will be replaced at 1000 if it makes it that far no matter how it looks.
I had mine mounted in exact same spot as you. Be careful, if sled bottoms completely out...the upper idler wheel can make contact with the hook of scratcher. It did on mine and chewed up wheel
Cable style mounted on the rails

Ran my original 8JP out to the VERY end of stock gearing this weekend a couple times...then kept trail riding all weekend. About 600 miles on it so far and still looks good with little dust. But I do clean off clutches after every couple rides..so hard to say how much total accumulated. I'll...
I'd say something not right with yours then. I rode about 400 miles this weekend in all different conditions...early mornings were a perfect test on very hard pack/ crusty conditions. While riding sled stayed at about 174-176 deg. As the days warmed up..and snow became looser...always runs...
lol...yes gears are on order. And need to install a better gear clamp for charge tube off turbo. It's blown off twice on me now. Just got in from another decent mileage day riding. I'd estimate I probably put 380 miles from friday to today on the EVO Stage 4 flash (14.8 psi) and Sandale 3"...
Got out yesterday and today for about 220 miles running the evo tune. Sled ran fantastic. Couldn't be happier. Never missed a beat on straight pump 91. I need to dial in clutching now. Running stock gears managed a 129 mph (gps) today on plowed ice. Distance wise hard to say exact...total plowed...
I never had any luck with those carbon belts on my 1100's. I did have great results with XTX belts. I'm gonna try one for this sidewinder soon. I have heard the compound hardness is a compromise between the 8JP and 8DN
I have the blocks out, but left rod installed. I honestly wouldn't want it to transfer any more than it does now. Lifts the skis 4"-6" at will, and will loft the front end on any small grade on the trail.
most likely that charge tube is not sealing properly....that would be about the highest point of boost...and the hottest being right beside turbo...When i reinstalled that charge tube...felt so flimsy because of the heat it was exposed to.
mine blew off today too!! and I thought I had checked them all...guess i missed that one. It also tripped a code 26 right after...mine cleared itself within a couple miles
saw it once today...but only right after the charge tube blew off the turbo! It almost threw me over handle bars it cut power so fast. At first I thought I blew a belt...but nope...blew that hose right off...and couldn't find the clamp anywhere. Had to steal a clamp of intake and swap it over...
You're certainly right. But the season too short for me to keep messing with stock secondary. I've used stm clutches on my past turbo sleds and the perform fantastic. The stock secondary is quickly showing it's weakness in within low miles and stock boost. I'll be running my sled boosted and...
