Ah ok - makes sense - going off memory - could be just the front protector is welded. I had intended on leaving them in and running the 1.450 studs thinking if I were to bottom it would prevent gouging the heat exchanger.
Do you have your original tunnel protectors in as the only form of protection? Any added protectors? How many studs and any on the outside? I'm thinking 4 per bar like I ran on my sidewinder but on this 144 will work out to be 228 studs. 1.450 woody's triggers likely.

Thanks a lot for the quick response - were your protectors welded in to the tunnel? I have not installed protectors on an Apex but the ones on this XTX are welded at the front of the tunnel where the track goes around the drivecogs. It also appears to be welded at the back and at certain...
Bump - @mbarryracing (saw an older thread with a picture of your apex that looked like it had 1.575's in it. What is the max length I can run on this 2011 XTX with an 1.25 track. It has the factory tunnel protectors - i'd ideally like to get a 1.575 under or a 1.450 at a minimum....hookup with...
ooof - good catch, hadn't even thought about the ripsaw 2 not being available for the 144. I'm not seeing it - is this composit you speak of made by camoplast as well? Do you have any idea what the max stud length is on these xtx's?
Sled is supercharged with headshim running an 11psi pulley setup. I'm coming off of a Sidewinder that had a ripsaw 2 1.25 with 180 1.575 Triggers (4 per bar) . I ran the Apex at the end of last season and love it but with it's current ripsaw 1 1.25 and 1.375 trail studs hookup off the line is...
Well I couldn’t find my adapter hoses for my compression tester . Didn’t have the right size thread - I did pull all of the plugs just to see . I will post them from left to right (sitting on the sled ) . I posted two pictures of the last plug as it almost looks like coolant is laying on the...
Well I had assumed the worst - but now i'm not sure what to think. I've got the seat, tank, headlight and all other shrouds off. A mess of wiring is stopping me from getting a good look at the valve cover. I set the tank on a milk crate next to the sled - hooked up the fuel line and power to the...
Kind of good news - definitely leaking from the headgasket once it’s up to operating temp (good call Kinger!). That explains the white smoke rolling out from under the headlight and coolant smell . However that doesn’t solve my oil consumption problem - I will know for sure what I’m dealing with...
I let the sled idle until the coolant temp hit 155F, it starts pouring out white smoke under headlight area around 130. No obvious leaks or wet spots - looks like the smoke is coming out from underside of the exhaust ports off the engine just above or around the headgasket. I assume it has just...
Some details here - I bought the sled used with an mpi supercharger on it . It is pullied for 10 pounds and has a diverter valve that can be opened to allow boost out of intercooler to atmosphere . Running this valve all the way open has the sled running 6-6.5 pounds. Gradually shutting it will...
I'm just spitballing here as I was trying to figure out a clean solution to this problem as well. I wonder if the old school tail light / tunnel cover from the mountain apex could be utilized putting the tail light at the very back above the bumper. This would allow for potential linq mounting...
Interesting thank you very much for the information based on that I will likely look for a 11-15 which would also help keep the cost of the project down and/or focus the money where it counts reliability/power wise.
A strong trail machine is the goal here. I'm not expecting to beat a stage 6 sidewinder as they are knocking on the door of 320hp now , however I wouldn't mind running a stage 2 setup with 10-15 pounds ? Not sure if that is doable with just a piston swap. I'm not worried about the fuel system I...
Hey there,
I'm coming off a tuned sidewinder that ran around 290hp. I've had my eye on a few different MPI kits as I would like to install a charger on a 2012-2017 apex. I haven't found the ideal sled yet..but figured i'd gather some thoughts. I miss the sound of that 4 cylinder...I'm not...
