High idle RPM on 2012 Apex XTX

Thanks for the all the input, I really appreciate it. I checked the airbox and all the connections seem OK. I need to have the EXUP checked, hopefully that's the problem.

High idle RPM on 2012 Apex XTX

My 2012 XTX has about 1600 miles and this year I noticed it started idling between 2000-2100 even when it is warmed up. Also noted a significant rise in fuel usage by about 20%. I have always had Yamaha dealer do oil change and maintenance on this sled. I never had had problems with exhaust...

Experience with Fox zero iQS on 2019 SW

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm working on my 2008 Apex LTX GT anniversary, and am floored by the $1000.00 price tag for the replacement EC unit. If the new controller with the fox shocks are durable, then it would be nice to be able to adjust the shocks on the fly.

Experience with Fox zero iQS on 2019 SW

Any feedback on the zero iQS shocks on the 2019 SRX or L-TX LE. Looking to spring power check a 2020, and narrowed down to the L-TX LE or L-TX GT, with the main difference being the remote control on the LE.

Feedback on viper S-TX DX 146

Great to hear you did not have to spend $$$ on new skis or shocks.

Feedback on viper S-TX DX 146

Dave, nice looking sled! I'm old school so to me the simple color scheme is more attractive than bling. It looks like you kept the stock ski's and front shocks on. How did the sled handle especially in the bumps? After 1500 kms on it are you tempted to change the shocks or ski's?

Feedback on viper S-TX DX 146

Anyone put time last season on the 146 viper ST-X DX? If so could you share your experience.

Thoughts on SW S-TX DX 146 vs Apex XTX

Maybe Tom should consider having an separate sub forum for the "old fogies". Although 60 is the new 45, physically we have different demands, such as more frequent pit stops for urgency. A new forum would allow more open communication in our age group. Unfortunately we're not in the...

Thoughts on SW S-TX DX 146 vs Apex XTX

Thanks to everyone who replied! Going with SW and changing the ski's to pilot 6.9.

Thoughts on SW S-TX DX 146 vs Apex XTX

I'm looking at upgrading my 2012 Apex XTX this year and narrowed the choices down to the SW S-TX DX 146 and Apex XTX. I am not young (65) and found the power steering on my Apex, was able to keep me in the sport for the last few years. My riding is primarily trails in the UP & Algoma district...

    How old are we.

Turned 60 in 2013. First sled was a 1967 Ski Doo Olympic 335E single lunger - used for about 15 years. It wasn't nearly the best sled I've owned but I have probably had the best memories from that time.

Usable fuel volume on 2012 Apex

I think a better way to phrase this is: when the sled runs out of gas, how much is left in the tank (unusable)? Therefore what volume of gas is actually usable. Thank you Bluebullet, from you reply it looks like at least 8.9 gallons of usable fuel. Has anyone run out with >0.6 gallons left...

Usable fuel volume on 2012 Apex

This weekend out on the Apex & had then Fuel light go on. Went about 10 more miles & filled up (light on the entire time) and it only took 7 gallons. Does anyone have the bad experience of running out of fuel & then filling up to know what the "usable" volume is? I did a search & could not...

Ohlins Shocks on 2012 Apex XTX

Veemaks posted the availability of Ohlins shocks on new Apex TTX in scandinavia (ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=122258). Looked on the Yamaha European website & indeed there are 2014 models available with Ohlins. I have a 2008 Apex GT LTX 45th Anv. with Ohlins & love them. I want to upgrade...

Shout out to the great Yamaha dealers....starting with Pat's

X-3 for Pat's, I can't say enough on how well I was treated last year when my Attak developed a TORS problem. I was so impressed I purchased my 2012 Apex XTX from them. Great service!!!

Blowing 20 amp fuse on ignition circuit 09 XTX

2009 XTX with 4000 miles and up to now w/o any problems. In UP this week kept blowing the 20 amp fuse on the "ignition" circuit, initially after driving 60 miles, then will blow w/in 2 - 5 miles. Only error code was "81" (handwarmer)??? Managed to limp back to trailer only by replacing with...

    2011 Yamaha release poll

My impression is Yamaha engineered the Apex to a new level of refinement to meet the needs of the majority of it's customers: the long distance groomed trail riders. While it doesn't have the most stock HP, it can keep up on the trail with any stock sled. It certainly is not be the lightest or...

    apex mirrors

Kevin, that's the same setup I have on My Nytro XTX they are very functional! I could not mount the handlebar mounted kit (SMA-MIROR-00-KT) on my 06 Apex GT because of the PowerMadd handguards already on the sled & not enough room. Chuck

    apex mirrors

I have mounted the mirrors (SMA-8FTHB-MR-00) on my Nytro's hand guards - if you look at the picture the bracket & longer replacement bolts are made to mount on the Yamaha handguard bracket and not on the handlebar. I tried the mirror with brackets that mount to the handlebar (SMA-MIROR-00-KT)...
