    Darting VK's

While this is a very old thread, this remains a problem for the VK Pro with stock skis and/or ski skins. There was some great info above about the Qualipieces Cobra runners that extend a flat plate forward and give the carbide a less aggressive approach to the snow, thus reducing darting...

    Help with changing Gear oil

Did you find a chain case dipstick after or do you just have a top cap and sight glass on the VK's with low range?

    Help with changing Gear oil

My bad. My eyes saw chaincase oil and my brain read engine oil.

    Help with changing Gear oil

No dipstick on the 2008? It's integrated into the low oil sensor like the 2006, no?

VK Pro II - Can it Self Cool?

Appreciate the response but ya, grooming really is a different animal. The VK Pro 2 that I was considering has sold anyways, so it's less of an issue for me now. I'll stick to the 2006 VK Pro for the big downpressure drag to flatten moguls and the 1996 Skandic WT 500F for trailbreaking.

VK Pro II - Can it Self Cool?

Self cooling is like an ATV or truck can do, work all day and the rad+fan keeps the engine at the proper temperature. The 600ACE and 900ACE can do this easily, and it is a fantastic feature when hauling heavy loads or grooming. These machines only shut off when unattended to, that has nothing...

VK Pro II - Can it Self Cool?

When Yamaha upgraded the VK Pro to the VK Pro II, did they build in self-cooling this time, like the Skandics? Yes, the VK Pro had a rad+fan and so does the VK Pro II but the VK Pro's system could never keep up with the engine like the Ski-doo ones can.

A few shots of her in action

VK Pro 2006 - Rear Suspension Maintenance

That went quite well. Skid is in using the process described above along with a chain hoist to adjust the rear height during the job. Sled is now fully maintained and covered / in storage. Looking forward to a solid grooming season next year on her.

VK Pro 2006 - Rear Suspension Maintenance

Waiting for one tiny plastic front torque arm bushing before I can re-install, pretty sure I lost it during maintenance, crap. The word on the street is to install the front bolts, then rears, then middles. Hopefully that strat is workable.

    Skid rebuilding question

NTN is hard to beat. Just make sure they have rubber seals and not plastic. Royal Distributing sells 6004 and 6205 brgs by the 10-pk for a reasonable price, that's where I buy mine.

VK Pro 2006 - Rear Suspension Maintenance

Awesome LOL. I have a lot to look forward to apparently  Skid is nearly back together now, hopefully final assembly tonight and I can start at the re-install. This thing has to get out of my garage... time to start at the bike.

    Skid rebuilding

No kit that I'm aware of, not for bushings and such anyhow. Bearings you should be able to source aftermarket no sweat once you have them out and have the number off the seal, i.e. 6004, 6005, etc.

VK Pro 2006 - Rear Suspension Maintenance

Man it's pretty tight in there, good on ya for managing to do that much. These ones were so far gone they couldn't be saved with a grease needle but I am hoping some of the other larger dia wheels will cooperate in that way as I can manipulate the seal a little on those. Job for the weekend...

VK Pro 2006 - Rear Suspension Maintenance

Couldn't call this one properly maintained without pulling the rear skid for inspection and maintenance at 11000kms, I really don't know the sleds maintenance history so I wanted to be sure that I could trust it to groom next season. The bushings in the relay rods are of utmost importance to be...

    Radiator Fan Manual Switch

Did some research, got well into this job today. Three pin switch, load, +ve, -ve Fan relay is above brake side footwell, closest to tank of the two. To install a manual over ride switch, while still maintaining the sleds ability to start the fan automatically if temps creep high and you...

    Radiator Fan Manual Switch

Spent some time sizing things up last night, could not find relays. I am being told that they are above the footwell areas. Any truth to this? I'll check tonight either way...

    Radiator Fan Manual Switch

Thank you for helping me dig up that thread, I actually corresponded with air19 a fair bit many years ago when he was performing some of these mods, but that was 10+ yrs ago now, maybe even closer to 15. Wow. Thanks to a great electrically inclined friend of mine, we sat down and reviewed...
