I went one step further with the pilot mountains - 6.7" wide I think. I like them a lot. much easier when you are on any thing short of very firm hardpack.
There is a fine line between not enough ski pressure and shoulder wrecking steering effort with the venture.
a little throttle...
Has anyone attempted this and what did you use to cut the windshield material and what type of glue would you recommend to reattach the trim piece?
If I pivot and raise my handlebars to the position I want them, I get some contact with the windshield on turns. It's either mod the windshield...
Thanks BDM. Lots of good, detailed info there. Does anyone know the staple length off hand - is it 1/4" or shorter?
Looks like I have a new project on the schedule.
Has anyone removed the snowflap bracket from the sled?
What is the preferred method of rivet removal and more importantly, of rivet installation? Is there an pnuematic riveter required to complete this?
I was thinking of removing and repainting the rusty steel bracket that holds snowflap...
anyone have any tips on removing the windshield on a RS sled- I have the full shop manual, but I can't find the section that covers this.
Thanks in advance.
I want to add 4" to my RS venture seat - has anyone taken the cover off of one and added height with more foam?
Also, what type of stapler is used to attach the vinyl to the plastic seat frame?
Thanks.

Just greased up the jackshaft and drive axle bearings on my RS Venture, and as I was placing the secondary clutch back on the shaft I noticed between 1/16 and 1/8 of end play when the bolt is torqued.
I didn't notice the end play when I removed the bolt, but I was focused on holding the...
check the chassis bushings where the lower and upper control arms attach to the chassis. All four of my lower bushing were shot at 3000 miles. Steel grinding away the aluminum chassis is no good!!
Unfortunately, you have to remove the airbox, battery, battery mount to get to the nuts on the...
wider stance (>48") is the only downfall for trailering or pickup beds.
I have the 6.9 pilots on a RS venture (and a mxz renegade) and they work great - also order the ski-doo rubber for the yamaha spindle. search for the pn on this site.
Steering effort is much lower with the ski-doo's...
controlled power through the turns. If you are slowing too abruptly the front end loads up bad. slow first and power through. I don't mean braking when I say slowing, as the engine provides plenty of braking on its own.
needs a ton of body english to get it to react & not be tippy. you...
I pulled the sway bar link on my RS venture for some off trail riding this last weekend - I'd go ahead and pull one of the links as it is very easy.
I'd rate the ride slightly better for powder (18-24") without the link.
ski doo pilot 5.7 and 6.9's have much lower steering effot. They may be a little shorter vertically, thus putting a little more weight on the front of the skid.
Steering effort was probably 50% less with the 6.9's on a RS Venture vs. stock ski that had a huge center keel.
anyone disconnect their sway bar for cross country riding?
especially interested in hearing if any RS venture owners that have done this.
mountain boys said to pull the bolt when you get to the off trail portion and then put it back in when your back on trail...
nice hijack.
Anyway, thanks for the responses guys. I meant to put the word "deep" in quotes, as 36 inches is about as deep as it usually ever gets here.
