Sidewinder clutch will fit on your sled... FYI
Lots of people dumping that clutch in favor of the older ones, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I have almost 19000kms on mine and the sheaves have practically zero wear.
Why is the sky blue?
Why don't they sell Coke and Pepsi at the same restaurant?
How do brown chickens give brown eggs but brown cows don't give brown milk?
Why the deep dive on why this happened?
We found the problem, who cares why it doesn't happen exactly the same on every sled.
Get some...
It's not a new issue. It was over 12 years ago when I came across this. It was an RS venture, started to eat belts, the top always came off first.
The owner was even on a trip in Michigan and came across a group of guys that worked for Yamaha and they had nothing to offer as to his problem. I...
He may have replaced it with a cheapy solenoid and that's why it stuck.
Unhooking the main harness under the left panel wouldn't have stopped it from cranking.
Get an oem solenoid from yamaha.
Yes, so what happens is as the belt travels up the sheave there will be a point where only the top portion of the belt is being pinched, and of course the top comes off then.
Correct.
I realize everyone is a big fan of the 8dn belt, I used to be also.
However, I came to realize I was wrong. The 8dn is too hard.
Find a clutch with straight sheaves or order new ones. Use the ultimax belt.
I have almost 19000kms on my sidewinder using this belt and my sheaves are...
Put a straight edge on the primary sheaves to see how much wear there is about half way up. Don't worry about the grooving near the bottom, it has almost no effect.
The sheave surfaces need to be straight.
I had this same problem on a rs venture years ago and it was excessive wear half way up...
I really liked the individual throttle bodies, but it appears they won't be using that if those pics are correct.
I don't care if it isn't a Yamaha engine, as long as it is durable.
Hopefully it's an eleven or twelve hundred cc displacement.
250hp stock would be great!
Anyone here had experience with the latest version of FX kits?
I have a 2013 here with broken flanges. Just trying to figure out the best option.
Maybe I should use the BOP new flange ends?
Anyone in Ontario have them.
Looking at all my options.
Thanks for any input.
