You know you're a Yamaha owner when...

….when you take apart a brand new sled made in TRF, MN to make sure it meets your build quality standards.

Parts not available for a month..?

My '12 Vector LTX had a run in with a rock that caused damage to the bulkhead. I was waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at it today and get back to me, so I called the dealer (local, trusted dealer) and asked how the inspection went today. Apparently, there is nowhere near enough...

    Wondering if Vector is totaled..?

Update - they are not going to total it, I guess I understand that because of the sled's still high value. In other news - my dealer told me that parts won't be available for a month! Does that sound right? Gonna have to make a new post.

    Wondering if Vector is totaled..?

No kiddin'. It didn't take much of a hit to do it. Going about 50 mph down a trail with 6" fresh powder, I hit a rock. I thought it hit the track … I took a peek underneath and found no bent rails, missing idlers, rail tips intact, etc., etc….so I kept riding. The bellypan must've been...

    Thanks! Good info.

    Wondering if Vector is totaled..?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, as I do like the sled for the most part) I am sure it's worth way more than that. Low retail on NADA is $7200, high retail is 9500. Probably $8,000 with the mileage.

    Wondering if Vector is totaled..?

Last weekend, my power steering started working intermittently and when I engaged reverse, it would grind and pop out of gear. Thinking these problems were peculiar to a 2012 Yamaha with 4400 miles on it, I took it to the shop. What they discovered was a bashed in bulkhead that had tweaked the...

    2014 Nytro ride quality v. 2008

Hi All - My Vector may be wrecked and I may consider going to a '14 Nytro to replace it. My buddy has a 2008 RTX, and despite the shocks being revalved to a much softer setting, it still has a punishing ride. It almost seems like it was designed to ride hard and not let the shocks do their...

    Vector beat the Apex

I miss the feeling of endless power from my Apex, compared to my Vector, where you can feel the end of the power in the form of flatter acceleration after 60 mph.

Will 06 Nytro seat fit '12 Vector LTX?

Thanks guys. I pulled the seat and decided to take it to an upholstery specialist to get new, firmer foam and a a couple of inches to the height. I do not know why they made the Vector seats so soft that they just sag and become extremely uncomfortable.

Will 06 Nytro seat fit '12 Vector LTX?

Greetings once again - I just can't stand the over cushy seat on my 2012 Vector LTX any longer. Before I buy a 2006 Nytro seat, I just want to make sure it will fit. Please advise!

    Options for better seat?

How easily will an 06 Nytro seat fit? How about an Apex Mtn seat? What are your suggestions for getting one?

    Options for better seat?

There's only one thing I do not like about my 2012 Vector LTX...the seat...particularly in the 2nd half of the riding season. The thing is just too darn soft! At 6'1", 230 lbs with gear on, I get the feeling I am sitting on a sofa, particularly in the second half of the season. What are my...

    EPS

No problems with 3100 miles, except one time when it was -15 F in Jan. 2012 and the EPS light came on and the system did not work. Never happened again.

TECH TIP: Adjusting GYTR Dual-Clicker shocks

Mr. Sled - we got it figured out. Not the easiest things to do using two cell phones, with me communicating information. He has the compression and preload both set at softest settings and it is riding a lot better. Need some better (or worse) conditions to see how it holds up to bumps...

How in the world do you make shock adjustments on 2008 RTX?

He has not done anything with rebound settings yet.

How in the world do you make shock adjustments on 2008 RTX?

Floats are re-valved and he's happy with them. He has been texting me saying he loosened compression (counterclockwise) on both shocks and its still too stiff. Do you still recommend what you posted even with these shocks revalved by Pioneer to Apex-type settings?

How in the world do you make shock adjustments on 2008 RTX?

Thank you again! Trying to do this while snapping pics of my computer screen and sending them is a bit challenging. Especially since he has a phone from 1972. The dummy has the exact same setup, I think the adjustments are just covered in snow.

How in the world do you make shock adjustments on 2008 RTX?

I just texted him your pics. He SWEARS that is not his set up, that there is no adjustment screw with a slotted head on the reservoirs. I am stumped. His is a white 2008 Nytro RTX. I am gonna need to fire up the Mystery Machine and get Scooby.
