    Yamaha friendly lift bracket

With no snow I had some time to spend in the shop and I made a bracket for my snowmobile lift that is more Yamaha friendly since you can't lift in the middle. Other than a couple heavy threaded hooks that I got at the hardware store I had pretty much all the odds and ends right in my shop. Gives...

    Happy wife, happy life!

My wife is a 14 year Air Force veteran and continues to serve other veterans as a Veterans Service Officer helping them navigate the quagmire of paperwork and regulations they have to deal with. She commented on someone else's patriotic wrap last year, so Christmas present ideas solved! Took an...

    Snowmobile wraps longevity

My wife is a vet and I want to give her a patriotic wrap for her viper. Just curious if anyone has any long term success or failure with adhesion of the wraps. I know surface prep is the biggest key to success. Without going out to the garage, I was thinking that the side panel has a "pebble"...

Is there a better snow flap?

I have a metal support frame that's shaped like a W. Made out of 1/4 rod. I think I got it from Dennis Kirk years ago. It was on my old sled. Keeps the flap away from the track.

    Taller spare key

Got a spare key for both of my vipers recently. 2014&2016 Checked the local hardware store. He had a box that said Yamaha motorcycle keys. The blank appeared to be a match, just taller. He told me to take it home and try it out before he cut it. Fits perfect and with the cutting it only cost me...

    2014 vs 2016 height

I have a 2014 Viper XTX 141 with about 2,500 mi on it. This year we picked up a used 2016 LTX DX 137 Viper with 3700 miles. I noticed in side to side comparison the 2016 sits about 2 in higher. Is that a normal difference between the two years or model styles? I'm still learning when it comes to...

    Snow hawk drive on dolly

Bought this drive on/ off dolly about 20 years ago at the MN State Fair. Believe it was called the Snow Hawk. Anyone know what happened to the company? I believe they were made in MN. Had a second one that I sold when the wife sold her sled years ago. Wish I still had it.... Can adjust for...

    Wind deflectors

Just got the wind deflectors on my wife's 2016 viper. I already had them on my 2014 and they make a difference when it gets really cold out. Just picked this sled up a couple weeks ago from the up of michigan. It does cut the bottom corner of the a off on Yamaha but I'm not worried about that.

    Eating slides help

You've probably fixed your problem by now but just in case... I ran into the same problem on a 121 track that I extended. Finally stopped after I took in some limiter strap and compressed the springs on the skis some to take pressure off the front of the skid. Still handles fine and the...

    Apple AirPod Pros while riding?

I can't comment on the airbuds, but I've been using my Jabra wireless and they are very comfortable. Everything is in the ear, no tail sticking down so the helmet touches nothing. They do a great job of cancelling outside noise wether it's the sled, snowblower or skid steer.

    Rail extensions

I had a 99 vmax SX that I extended from 121 to 136. Huge improvement in hookup, not spinning track so much if I had to ride a ditch or other off trail and it handled the rough trails better. My kit came from mountain performance, unfortunately I hear they are out of business. ( Don't know for a...

    Track extension math

After fighting with an overly tight track when I did a 121 to 144 in extension I was thinking about the math while in my shop. I measured the axle to axle distance of the extension and it was exactly 12 in but the track is essentially a triangle in the way it travels to the rear of the sled...

    Track measurement

I'm wondering if the track measurement is measured inside or outside of the track. I extended a sled from a 121 to a 144 in and the new track is tight as a bow string even with the tensioners as loose as possible. We've rode it some so it should start to stretch but it really hasn't changed. I...

    Medium or Tall windshield

Haven't been here a while. This is what I ended up with. Added the side lower wind deflector and also the Arctic Cat larger side ones. They don't fit the Yamaha, but with some patience and a heat gun I changed the contour to fit and sprayed flat black to get the ugly cat logo off

    Third hand for driveshaft removal

I was working on removing the drive shaft from a 2004 viper and was frustrated by the cogs getting caught up on the track. I found that a 15-in piece of aluminum ductwork rolled nicely up between the cogs and the track allowing it to slide back and forth with perfect ease. Be sure and put duct...

    2014 different windshield fittings

The green tape shows the difference between the old style which I have mounted now as nd the new style I returned. The new style attaches that much lower and forward. It looked oddd to me, the way it covered the clear plastic from the headlight.

    New owner, where to start?

Summer project will be getting to know my 2014 viper with 2500 miles. 141" track. I've seen the posts about the hollow shaft spinning in the bearings. Are there any other maintenance items I should be keeping an eye on to prevent larger repair problems down the trail?
