I've purchased a knockout collar in hopes of quieting my clutch. I have read the entire 30ish page post. It seams that when the grease escapes the noise returns, there MUST be something other than grease to place on the splines other than loc tight or grease.... thinking rvt yamabond...

I did the same, kept the chain case from the 15, update the shaft with spacers as you did.... the only issue is that if you want to go the dmc top gear bushing/bearing there is no room for that....

I am still experimenting with my sleds starting sequence. Mine seams to start best with cycling the fuel pump twice than hold the key for about 3 seconds and it starts... I'll add I have a new battery and new starter.

Yes, flywheel and stator all good, no broken pieces in that section, blew out with compressed air where I could not see or reach.

I have a 15 viper, I did a 17 jackshaft with a single row top bearing in the orginal case... you will need to place a 4mm spacer to account for the narrow bearing.. but it all works well. The 17 jackshaft is way beefer. The issue with going this route is that with the 15 case and 17...

Go with the bushing from mcmaster carr 2867t67. It's a bit better then the typical one most people use load bearing wise.. when you press it in the gear it will be to tight, it will have to be reamed a couple thousands most likely... don't hone it, it will not be parallel, get a expandable...

I have never heard a kickback, but it sounds pretty normal to me, you just didn't hold the key long enough.

My 15 with latest flash starts best when I don't let the fuel pump cycle, just go straight to start , and hold key TILL IT IS STARTED!!!

One more trip on that chain case oil isn't going to hurt a thing, think about how long gearlube is in a pumpkin on a car. Ride it. Than do it right during the summer, get into that chaincase and look it all over.

You will need a jackshaft from a 17 sidewinder,a Single row bearing, ( I think 6206 number) but can't remember, and two 2mm spacers., I used snap rings as spacers.

I just replaced mine also, would like to find one not made of plastic, but use a rubber strap wrench to remove and replace and you won't damage the plastic one
