UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE 12/30/10
Sorry everyone, It's been soooo long since I've been on here. I have a 11 month old kid now, with another on the way, and when the snow left here in Feb/March, the sled slid out of mind. SOOOOOO, since then:
My brother has hooked me up with a kick #*$&@ AFR meter...
I guess I haven't felt the Ohlins on front yet, but my 07 Nytro came with the Fox Floats. I gotta say that I haven't had better front shocks on anything. I absolutely love them. I have complaints about my rear suspension, but not a single one about my front. I have about 2300 miles on my sled...
Yea, that exactly what I am going to do. I still have to hit the parts store to get some. My carb springs from Ulmer Racing came today, so I will try and get those installed tonight, see if they help.
So, the saying goes "GO BIG OR GO HOME"
I took a hole saw to the airbox and gave it (2) nice 1 and 1/4 inch holes! I went big, got to a field nearby, and then went home! Too much. It was popping a bit, horrid throttle response, falling on its face. I went and plugged one of the holes up...
I have some panels off a nytro that should fit. They are red but you can do with them what you want.......I think I got them pretty darn cheap, sell them to ya for what I have in them. Let me know if you want pics.
That bog ol nasty airbox be gettin some holes drilled in it tonight!
Not gonna spend my time testing the water, just gonna dive right in!!!!! I want more out of this engine so bad, but I think it's gonna take a little time to get it. I'm just waiting for that light bulb to turn on...........
AGREED! Looks great.........I'd like to get my hands on one!
I used to have an Excell header on my 05 Rage, I really liked it, woke up my sled pretty good. I didn't notice anything lost on low or midrange. You can't notice a lost 'range' when you're not in it! Just put a zip tie on your...
Per my other thread, I got my head ported on my 07 carb'd Nytro. The dying question I have for anyone who might be able to tell me is:
Since I had this head ported (I can only relate this to 2 strokes, so that's why I'm asking) will this rev higher if it were making more power or would it...
Ok...got home from work tonight, both my borthers were waiting for me. Get it all together tonight!
So, there is no bad news, just good news and neutral news.
Good news: the sled is not any slower, no bogs, no lag, not a dive in power at any rpm.
Neutral news: The sled didn't feel like...
Well.....got my head back last night! I was working on it for a few hours.....still have alot to go before it's done. My brother ported it and said that the design was actually pretty good to begin with, but was definitely able to make improvements. I took pictures of what everything looked...
I was looking at the service manual and saw that the installation of the head says as follows:
Tightening steps:
• Lubricate the cylinder head bolts and washers
with engine oil.
• Install the washers and cylinder head bolts.
• Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the proper...
Might not be a bad idea to check all of your coolant hose clamps.......you never know, maybe one could be a hair loose and some could be slowly dripping out, somewhere out of sight. My bottle kept getting lower and lower, then I found one of my clamps to be loose and dripping on the head. I...
Hey lindy06, Any idea on where to get the torque specs and torque pattern for those head bolts? Also, did you just re-use your head bolts, or did you buy new ones? I know it's not the same thing, but when I did my heads up on my Pontiac Firehawk, I bought new head bolts, since you basicaly...
Maybe a little Sta-bil in the tank.....should help with not letting the gas get stale. I like to try and fire mine up a few times in the summer, run it on the stand for a bit. It seems that things like to go to hell when they sit........
Yea, keep us posted on what you find......it might be kind of hard to find someone to do it, but maybe try to get your head pressure-checked. You could eliminate a variable that way.
I have my head off right now, getting it ported. I know that there are multiple thicknesses of head gaskets...
:bash: J/K Man, that sucks, sounds like you are having real bad luck with that sled. Might be worth your while to just dump it and get something else. Nothing against Yamaha, but I may have the same feelings right now if I were you. Hope you come back to blue, but if not, good luck.
