i put 80 studs in. 2 in every row and then i would leave the 6th row empty. But you will need a tunnel protector for the front heat exchanger. The studs hit just behind the heat exchanger when you hitting crossings in the ditch when the snow is a little harder. I dont have them in because i...
The FX is alright in powder, but when you are riding with other sleds with even just a little bit more power you really notice how slow it really is in the powder. Its usually the last one everytime. That doesnt mean that its not fun though. Its really easy to throw around and carve with. I...
In december i bent both my upper and lower spindles. I was going about 10 mph and hit the top of a culver with just the edge of the ski, it didnt even make a mark on the ski. So the left ski was pushed back about 6 inches. I waited a month for the parts and the reason that it took so long to...

I would probably give the phazer fx a 2 or 3.
The reason for this rating has to do with a few things. First the biggest thing is the constant overheating issue. Always tipping the sled over to clean out the heat exchanger isnt fun. Also the huge ice buildup problem that they have. I think...
hey rfapro
how about you read all the other posts about people having overheating issues with their phazers and then ask yourself if you think their is an overheating issue. Dont be affraid of the truth buddy! These phazers arent perfect so just accept and quit trying to always stick up...
I ordered the fan on monday, but its pretty sad that a company like yamaha didnt put it on in the first place. I dont know why it should be up to the customer to buy the necessary parts to make their snowmobile run right.
So when you are riding when its -15 F outside and you are in a foot to a foot and a half of powder thats overheating conditions. If those arent good conditions than the phazer probably isnt made for snow.
If its idling and overheats it will shut off, but when your driving it will not shut off. The temp light was on and i didnt realize it and just kept driving, because its always overheating. It started to steam out by my right leg and when i finally stopped the antifreeze was overflowing. So...
Try calling yamaha customer service. Thats what i had to do when my a- arms got bent and the dealer told me they were on back order. I waited a month for the parts, but once i called yamaha my self it sped up the process a little bit.
900 miles so far
Cost of new phazer FX $6800
New front arms $450
First dealership oil change $170
New rear suspension shock mounts $250
Rubber Mallet and ice pick for constant overheating problems $30
Finally getting the opportunity to sell my phazer fx, to get my F6 back...
You better make sure that you have the suspension set on hard, because if you dont the studs will bend and shred the metal on the back side of the heat exchanger. It did it to both mine and my brothers FX.
The rear suspension shock mount broke on my brothers FX. It was the bracket that holds the bottom of the rear shock to the side frame. He has around 700 miles on it. He didnt hit anything hard at all, just normal riding conditions. He took it to the dealer today. I was wondering if anybody...
I have a phazer FX with 800 miles on it and it wouldnt start when it was
-25F this weekend. I was staying at our cabin and we had to put it on a trailer and haul it to town to warm it up. It seems that about -20F is the cut off.
My brother and I each bought a Phazer FX this year. Both of them are constantly overheating. We had to make a screen for over the radiator, because just snowdust alone would clog it up. When we are riding in the powder they overheat about every 10 miles. A big block of ice and snow develops in...
