I installed the fan kit on the radiator, so not too worried about overheating since they'll have the normal blower setup.
The dyno shop only has the hydraulic fluid coupling to put resistance on the crankshaft. In reality, I'm not so much worried about absolute HP...
I talked to a dyno shop locally that said they could do sleds. They have to clamp the tester to the crankshaft. What do you need to get the primary off?
Also, from experience, I know that if you run the engine for a while without a belt on, the sensor on the jackshaft cuts the computer...
How do you cut down the sides of a 15" track to fit in the Phazer? I've heard of a tablesaw. What blade?
Also, what's the widest the track can be? One member here cut his to 14.25.
If you do cut a 15" all the way down to 14" are you running the risk of hitting the fiberglass...
Ya well, I called Yamaha today. I tried to be as civil as I possibly could with the whole more honey than vinegar thing. All it got me was frustrated. The woman "Product Specialist" on the phone actually had the nerve to say that she's never heard of one of these failing! She said that if I...
broke my arm
About half way through a 300 mile trip, my arm snapped. Had to ride it back home, bucking the whole way. The arm is shot. 1 year out of warranty (but only 1200 miles on the sled) and Yamaha said sorry buddy, fix it yourself. Where's the class action suit? I want in. Now I...
it's 1/4 turn
the hardest part is getting the allen wrench out because those fasteners are 1/4 turn too. But I agree that they could have made them thumb screws to make it a tad easier
Are they supposed to roll? Why? The Yamaha kit has stationary, square aluminum blocks. Also, the front spring mount doesn't roll. With a hard, round, plastic stop, the torsion spring arm should lever around that fulcrum point without much issue, no? See also...
Did some more: drilled holes in the floor boards to allow the snow to fall through the grips. Funny, from the pics the holes look off center, but it must just be the perspective.
Made some torsion spring anti-bottoming blocks. They are actually delrin rod that I drilled and pressed the tee...
To be honest, I put the airbox vents in before I ever rode it (except from the truck to the garage) so I don't know what (if any) difference there is. It sure sounds like it's breathing though,
I'll see if I can get any more pics of the speedo mount. To get the angle right, you do have to...
Just thought I'd show off my versions of mod ideas that you guys have come up with in the first place!
Flipped the speedo bracket upside down, ground out some clearance channels for the windshield bracket.
Uni Vent air box pods. Radiator screen.
Front skid idler wheels, used the...
