Ive searched and it seems this issue is common with a bearing failure. I was driving down a rough section of trail and then all of a sudden the speedometer just says zero when I am obviously moving. Sometimes it will display speeds but they arnt correct. The RPM works and the sled runs perfect and sounds normal. How can be sure what is causing this issue?

Bearing and speedo sensor are easy to inspect, just look under the secondary clutch and see if everything looks good and feels solid like in the picture. If there is wear on the teeth something has come loose because the sensor should not touch the gear. Check wires for breaks or shorts too.

Looks like indeed my drive-shaft bearing went bad and took out the speedo sensor. :o|

Ordered a new sensor and bearing from Port Yamaha. Can anyone tell me the correct procedure on replacing these?

If you are lucky you may be able to pull it off. But most likely its not going to. You may have to open the chain case to move it back over to get a bearing puller on it.

Is the bearing totally removed in that picture because it looks like I can see the locking collar with the set screws? If the shaft is being pulled by the track, loosen the track tension all the way while you work on it. I don't think you will need to open the chaincase if you get the old bearing off okay.

Its not removed yet. Looking for instructions or tips on how to remove it. All I did was remove the cover and disconnect the broken speedo sensor.

The assembly view is attached. You should remove the speedo gear, loosen the set scews on the collar and slide that along with what's left of the bearing off the shaft. If they are seized then you might have to use a puller, penetrating oil, or heat as a last resort. Remove the rest of the outer bearing from the housing and put things back together with new parts. Once everything is tightend the collar goes against the inside of the bearing and tighten the set screws (use blue loctite). I agree with some of the others though about checking out your chaincase. If this shaft was wobbling around with no support for any length of time it could have caused issues at the other end.
