My '03 Rx-1 M doesn't seem to have the same speed as she did last year. I don't get the same thrill when riding on the trail this year as I did last year. She works and sounds perfect but I don't know why she doesn't seem to be as fast.I had about 3 quarter throttle and only somewhere around 150 km/h give or take.

I think that's about right for the mountain. I don't think your going to see much more than that. 150km/h is 93mph. Your just getting use to it!

my 136" rx1 got 108.5 mph on gps on a hard packed lake trail. that's with gyt-r intake and 170 mains. sound about right?

IM CHANGING THE SECONDARY SPRING NEXT TRIP DIDNT KNOW THEY DONT LAST ALL THAT LONG. THANKS JDP

The guy who had her before me got 192 out of her before he ran out of room. I had 175-180 give or take last year but it doesn't seem like she will do it this year. Len, the shop cleaned the carbs twice and both times never found any dirt in them.

Age gets the Secondary springs. How would you like to be all twisted up and sitting there most of the year doing nothin'? :-) Two seasons and mine typically does not look the same as the new one. The Spring tips begin to loose their orientation from each other and the free-length changes.

usually the primary spring is the culprit in my experiance. i have gotten stuck because of a bad primary spring in the powder on a small hp sled.

If the Primary Spring goes bad you see it in you engagement RPM. Usually the Engagement goes down as it get weaker. When you pull it out, the spring's freelength will increase. I have seen very few Primary Springs actually fail. But, that is just me.

So would the secondary make me lose top end though? She doesn't seem nowhere near as fast as she was last year. A guy on here told me the mountain should only go about 150 km/h any way but the owner before me got her up to 192km/h before he ran out of room. I got her up to 175 or 180 myself, but I don't think she will do it this year.

I would start by cleaning the carbs. Then is the drive belt within Spec.? And, Also, the Secondary spring can drag the RPMs down. But I would replace that last. Only make one change at a time and then test it.

The carbs were cleaned twice the year and both times there was no dirt in them. The drive belt, that has the bottom ends of the nobs on top of the belt in line with the top of the secondary, which is where the manual says it should be.

I just thought, would gearing have anything to do with it? Last year when they did a bearing job on the chain case they put the right gear ion for my altitude, would this affect my top end by say 30 - 40 km/h?

If they geared you down, you may easily loose top end. What altitude are you operating at? Did they also re-jet the carbs for altitude? You signature says you are "completely stock." Gearing down is not "Completely Stock."

one thing not to be over looked is the foam air filter. clean it with soap and hot water rinse then dry before installing makes a big RPM improvement. also check for worn or weak parts in the clutches and replace :nos :nos

All this top speed talk, got me wondering........So I tried mine, and to my surprise, I got it up to 117 MPH on the speedo, I though that was pretty good for an 03 with 10500 miles on it! I did notice that when I hit it from a dead stop it only hits about 9800 rpms or so, and then looks like it settles around 9500, Could the secondary spring be the culprit here?? New belt, new cam shoes in the secondary, and new bushings and rollers in everything else!!
