Just wanted to know if anybody had a fix for the 03 RX1 handwarmers going on high every time you start the sled. The 04 RX1 has a memory for the setting and I would like the same. Please give a few suggestions. Thanks,

yeah all 03 start the warmers on high weird.
Yeah someone did a mod that would let them start on low or stay at last setting

There's a fix in the technical section. Just click on totallyamaha on the left side of this page, then go to tech and misc and scroll down, Ken.

Or you could pick up an 04 / 05 CDI and swap out the 03. Been thinking of doing that myself.

Grip Warmers
Hi LB
I did this mod a long time ago and now have a problem. When I start my sled all is fine , warmers come down to where I program them, but when I take off they go off and stay in the window of the gauge, in other words no fuel gauge until I stop and sit there and idle for a few seconds then the gas gauge will show up. My thoughts are possibly micro switch got shorted out when this shop shorted out my O2 sensor or when I wired my electric fuel gauge and turbo gauges I did something wrong. Connections are soldered and a ok. Any thoughts? Thanks

Thats an interesting problem and I really can't say where the problem is without examining it myself. I guess what you might do is check the following on the timer;
If the relay is actually flipping when you go on the gas. If yes, check the power input - it should be constant 12v-14.5v whenever the sled is running at any speed. If the power is constant and the relay is flipping on gas, then you have a bad timer. If the power is NOT constant, or the relay is NOT flipping on when you go on the gas, then your problem lies elsewhere.
If your relay is socketed, you might try unplugging it. If the handwarmers go down even with the relay gone, then you KNOW that the relay isn't responsible.

Thanks LB, I'll try that. It was a little cold with no grip warmers last week.
