03 rx1 idle problem (help)

i recently bought an 03 rx1 and the idle acts funny.when i first got it home i took it for a spin and it idled at 900 rpm. so i tried to idle it up and when i turn the idle screw it does nothing until i blip the throttle and then it races up to 2000 rpms and just hangs their. then i turn the screw back down a little at a time and it then drops back down to 900. i cleaned the carbs real good. and it still does it. also when i first start it when cold and i turn the choke all the way on it starts but does not rev up at all like my buddys r1 does. my buddys when it is warm,he can put the choke all the way on and it will rev way up. mine will just quite. anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? or has anyone had this happen to there rx1? any help would be appreciated. thanks scott

sounds like plugged pilot jets. when you cleaned the carbs did you remove and visually check them to make sure they were clean.they are small and plug easily.take a twist tie and burn the paper off and pass the wire through them a few times, then reinspect. your buddys sled dosent sound right if the rpm increases when he chokes it when its warm,as the rpm should drop.might want to check his pilots to.

Check for vacume leaks.....ie did all the o-rings make it back in and then if the jets are clean ...have the carbs sync

Had the same problem. Found that one of the slide diaphragms was pinched. Take all your caps off and double check them.
