03 vs 05 CDI and regulator

I absolutely hate the way the thumb and handwarmers reset to high on my 03 RX1. I have read the fix posted in the tech section and while it is a good one I was wondering if by changing the CDI to the 05 model will I get the 05 grip function? I am assuming that the 03 and 05 regulator rectifier boxes are the same. Is this correct?

Seems like an awfully expensive fix for a non-problem.

You may want to be thankfull they work so well.
