Noticed today that I was only pulling about 9,400 RPM. If if were to pin it from a dead stop it would pull all the way up staying at about 9,200/9,400 RPM. When it would reach high speeds it would then start to go above that and flat out would be pulling abou 10,000. This thing used to be bang on 10,200 all the way up. Problem is I cannot tell if this happened all at once as I must admit I don't watch the RPM that much. When I first noticed it I changed the belt because the belt has almost 7,000 miles but nothing changed. Should mention it is a stock clutch and I have just under 7,000 miles on the machine.

Ideas Please ?????

A new belt will lower rpm,s. So will riding on a warm or cloudy day with low barometric pressure.

I changed the belt because of the drop in RPM so that is not the problem. It was a warm day but 1000 RPM drop because of temp I don't think that's the problem.

One other thing I did a while back was shimmed the secondary to get the belt up higher. Can that lower RPM ?????

Anyone else ????? Has anyone ever experienced a loss of RPM because of a clutch problem ?????

Believe me when I say to make absolutely sure of your springs. Particularly the primary. If its weakened, it WILL lead to lower RPM. It sure did on my Exciter. First thing to do is check the free length, it is usually an indicator of a weak or damaged spring, BUT, it can also be weakened withOUT shortening.

Thanks Lazy...You might have guessed I know nothing about clutches...

Smokey have you been on a scale lately? I've notice that you've been looking a little plump. Your sled might be having trouble due to the extra weight on the seat. I think you might need a turbo or NOS to get the extra rider weight up to speed :tg: .

Jokes about weight...You shouldn't do that on this site... Now you pissed off Saquatch. Your life is over...

You do remember on the trail when I was talking about my RPM's being down and my words "NOW'S THE TIME FOR YOU TO KICK MY #*$&@" with your REV.

Want to tell the boyz about the subequent race with the RX1 only pulling 9,200 RPM's or should I ?????

:ORC :ORC :ORC

Lazy...You talked about checking Free Length of the primary spring. Can you give me some numbers and how you check it please.

I don't recall that but I do recall when you said "I'd like to climb that hill but not on my RX-1 it's too pretty. Can I borrow your REV?" :tg:

...and here is the photo evidence.
