Hello, I just purchased a 05 Rage with aprox 5000 miles. The machine is mint except for a swath that was taken out of the center inside of the track. Nothing appears bent or broken, I asked the local dealer and they said that this is quite common on those models, I can hardly believe yamaha would have such a design flaw. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'm putting on a new track, and i'll be sure to keep track tension proper.

One or both of two things have happened. A combination of each caused the same problem on my Rage.
A/ The hyfax were used beyond their service limit (run too thin)
B/ The bushings in the front shock are/were run in a beat out condition
Both of these will allow the front shock eyelets and possibly the upper and lower shock mounting bosses on the suspension arms to contact the inside of the track causing damage that looks like scrapes.

New Set Up
Thanks for the tip! I just replaced the track, it looks as though maybe the relay rods may have been replaced(a little shiny as compared). It seems as though the top of that rear shock is pretty close to rubbing the same line where the old track wore. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. Anyone hear about putting in larger diameter wheels?

Re: New Set Up
Believe it or not those relay rods stay shiny forever... on my sled with 12,000 miles they still look like new.
If Yamaha had only plated the rest of the suspension arms like that...
