I have 2 06 apex's rtx first time riding darted like all hell. so i put dually's on. now i can't make it around a turn without a berm. pissed off. I need a fix that will stop the sleds from darting and pushing, at a decent price and where to buy the product. thanks! (TIRED OF BLOWING CORNERS) both sleds have 96 studs up the middle.

What PSI are your front shocks set at (when elevated off the ground).

You should have about 45 to 55 psi off the ground to create correct ski pressure. Take a close look at the Doolys; When they are new, the carbide inserts are ground to a point and carve into icy corners well. As the wear, the edge or point wears to a radius and the no longer cut into the ice like before and the loss of performance slowly sneaks up on you. Sharp carbides, not thick are the answer, and this season has been especially bad for low snow and ice, both of which contribute to your complaint. I Doolys on my 06 RTX with no studs at all and if I pay attention, I can feel the performance deteriorate over time to the point that it will push. All I need is new carbides and I'm good to go. Good Luck!!

Spend the $ and get some C&A skis with 8" carbides!!!

I had duales at one point.. THey totally eliminate the darting but push in the corners badly..

There are a few different ways you can help the darting..

Stock skis with shims.. you can add bergstrom trip point carbides..

SImons skis (although ive heard they steer harder)

Pilot skis.. (help the darting and steer easy)

My Son has the same set up on the GT. No darting, good floatation, and it rails. ;)!

talked with bergstrom skegs today and ordered 8 inch trips and ski savers and shims. thanks for all the info. really do appreciate the help. and thanks to totally yamaha i got a nice discount.

I have Pilots on my RTX with the 4 inch bars, 60psi in the Floats and it turns so well you can actually slide the back end out. It lifts the inside ski a little which I like, it seems when it lifts the insde ski it plants the outside one better. I agree that maybe it is a carbide or rear set up issue. Even when I had the stock skis on mine with OK carbides it still turned well. My sled has the big boy spring in it but my buddies does not and he feels his handles well too.

dart

Bergstroms are great. I have Simmons skis and they went from hunting to straightline tracking. I also have Fox floats and found if I don't adjust the psi closely my front end does not track as well.
