I'm going to be changing the top gear and chain (along w/ the clutching) on my wifes 06 Attak per factory specs for an upcoming trip out West. I've done the above several times on our two strokes, but never on a four stroke & one w/ reverse. Is there anything I should be aware of when I switch the top gear & chain in the Attak chaincase? Any tips or help anyone can give me so nothing comes as a surprise is geatly appreciated.

Thanks, MNVIPER

Lots of 'extra' stuff in these ER chaincases...LOL..take your time and watch for the tiny spring!...

there is a great thread here somewhere with pics...

just curious what your changing to and why?..the attack has the well publicized 23 gear...

Thanks for the response machzed. I'll do a search & see if I can find the thread you mentioned w/ the pics. And I'll keep my eyes peeled for that tiny spring!

I'm switching to a 21 gear w/ the 68 L chain along w/ clutching changes per the altitude charts in the manual. We'll be doing a lot of our riding from 9K - 11K feet in the mountains.

The 23 gear & stock chain will be going back in when we get back as it's been a great performer in the flatlands.

Job's done and the Attak is ready for our trip! Not too bad once I got into it. You were correct about the extra stuff in the ER chaincases and I did find the little spring (LOL). Thanks for the help.
