I have an 06 Nytro ER and sometimes when I brake there is a loud clunk, anyone got any suggestions?

If you have reverse, it is the slack in the jack shaft that is necessary for shifting into reverse. When braking hard, it takes up this slack and causes the clunk.

ok, that makes sense. when shifting into reverse sometimes it grinds and wont engage, how do I remedy that?

I don't know about grinding when going into reverse, but I know on my '05 Rage that it will not go in sometimes. The remedy is simply to rev the sled until it moves foreward slightly. What's happening (at least with my sled) is the gears are not lined up enough to engage and moving it forward slightly will change the alignment. Hope this helps.

I have to do this with my nytro to go in reverse sometimes. It works for me.
