One of my hood decals was damaged/rubbed by something falling against it while hauling in an enclosed trailer. I didn't think it was a big deal. Peel the old one off and stick on the new one right?? I ordered new one and it has a "dull" finish. The ones on my hood are "glossy" and shiny. I don't think they are clearcoated to the hood because you can feel the edge of the decals. Anyone??

Yep, I had the same concern a couple weeks ago while updating the decals for my '05. They appeared to have a flat finish also, where the ones on the sled were glossy. I was not too happy as they are not cheap. I discovered there is a clear satin protective film over the top. After applying the decals and rubbing them flat, the film peels off the top, exposing the shiny top surface.

''twomorestrokes''is right,it happened to me with my phazer last year, the plastic film protects the finish of the sticker, kind of smart if you think about it
Thanks for the input guys. I wondered about a film on top and have tried to peel it from either end-with no luck. Do I need to stick the decal on the hood before the film will release? I definitely don't want to remove old decal before I know this one will be O.K.

Before I returned mine to the dealer, I got hold of one corner of the film with my fingernail to find out for sure. Once it started lifting up and I saw what it was, I installed thyem and then removed the film.
