I need someone input from experienced Yammi riders. I bought a used 06 Rage back in April. From what I've seen on TY, it sounds like a wheel kit is a good idea. What brand, models etc to you guys recommend. Next is the spring/shock debate. I'm 300 lbs, should I get the fat boy spring and shock revalved or is getting the shock revalved good enough. What are your thoughts on ski's. I ride mostly groomed trails and ditch bangin. Do you need the wide ski's (ie apex mountain or other) for this type of riding or are they only beneficial in powder. Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

Big Boy spring without a doubt. What are you refering to when you say wheel kit; the wheels that go at the curve of the rail? If so, they are not needed and most simply freeze up anyway. I personally think the front is wide enough. I recommend Simmons flexi ski's, they'll give you added flotation up front.

Forget the fat boy spring from Yamaha, send your shock to Hy-Gear out east, and have them install the dual rate spring kit, and also revalve the shock. I went the fat boy spring route, and it was no better than the stock spring. I also push the scales at about 290. Ask for Ross, he will fix you right up.

suspension questions

I checked with a local yammi dealer and mentioned revalving the shock. He said you add shims to stiffen the dampening and this can be done when rebuilding the shock. Is this the same as revalving? Also I remember someone talking about setting tension on the spring (c clip or something like that). Can someone point me to a thread on how thats done.
Do you guys recommend the 'marginal snow kit' for reducing hyfax wear. From the look of it, these sleds tend to chew up hyfax or is it just when you use the color ones.
Thanks for the replies,Greg
