Need some input. I'm picking up my first Yamaha this weekend. A 06 rage rs. Any thoughts on the monoshock suspension. I'm 300lbs dressed (must be heavy clothes), a buddy has an apex and had to install the fat boy spring. Does the 136" compress as easily as a 121". Any common problems with the rage that anyone can share. What's the best 'bang for your buck' to avoid darting - dual carbides (and if so, what size) or reasonably priced after market ski's. Thanks for any input.

I have a '06 Rage and I go about 260 dressed. I think you may be OK on the spring but you may decide that the valving in the '06 Mono is a little soft. Most guys send them out to be revalved a little stiffer. I will be doing it to mine this season. I put about 3800 miles on mine since I bought it in Dec '05. The best thing that Im did to mine was put a Nytro seat on it. You might want to ride it first and then ride your buds Apex. The extra height of the Nytro seat, IMO, makes the sled handle a LOT better. You WILL enjoy this sled. It isnt as fast as an Apex but you wont be that far behind them.

I have a O6 rage and I run about 250ish and I have not had any problem, It was set prefect for me until I got into some the big rollers (in Old Forge NY) I just cranked up the Mono shock a couple of clicks. No problem after.

3 Preload settings on Monoshock

I am about 225 without riding gear and I found I was hitting a little hard. Spoke with my dealer and they informed that the Monoshock has three preload settings on the spring as well as the 5 adjustment using the collar. Facotry sets it at miniimum level. I set mine for medium setting and find it great.

You can have the dealer do it for you or do it yourselve. I did mine, took about 1 hr total. PM me for directions if you are interested.

I also changed seat and put a 4" riser/1.75"pivot adaptor on bars. Amazing improvement in comfort and control. Worth the cash. (longer brake line and throttle cable extension required)
