I bought my wife a used 06 rage with 1800 miles on it this year. Right away I noticed the rear suspension sags quite a bit. And when I have rode it I can feel the suspension bottom out on med sized bumps. So I opened up the service manual.

and did the adjustments on pages 8-23, 8-27. Mine is the RS90R. On page 8-23 its diagram D.
Page 8-23 mine was set on number 3. I had to increase it all the way to 7 in order for the sled to hold up its own weight (no sag). Anything less that 7 and I would have what I feel to be too much sag. And when I sit on it the suspension compresses about 2" and then returns to full height when I step off it. I weigh about 200lbs. Is this normal or does it tell me there is something going on with the shock?
Second question on page 8-27 it talks about the connecting rod. Mine was extended way to far out and because of build up and grime on the threads I decided it would be easiest to just remove it from the sled and work on it on the bench. After removing it I noticed there is no pressure at all on this connecting ride. When I compress it, it does not extend back out. Is this correct. While on the bench I opened it up and noticed the inside of the thing is hollow. No oil of anything. Is this correct.
Sorry for the long post but hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks in advance.

I would guess that the rear shock needs to be rebuilt. The transfer rod is hollow as you describd.

We have two 06 Rages. There is some sag even when new, if not it will ride like a rock.
The proper amount of sag is 40mm to 45mm on the mono shock with the rider that will be riding the sled in full gear.
To check lift sled off ground and slide the stopper on the shock against the shock. Then put sled on floor and have rider sit on it a bit on the gentle side. Now lift sled and measure from shock to stopper, should be 40 to 45 mm. We like a good 45mm and it still rarely bottoms.
If you are out of adj. on the 7 cams there is a clip under the cams, but shock has to come out to adj. and you need a spring compressor.
I'm 210 and I had to move my clip, my wife is lighter, she ain't saying how much and her clip is stock.
