I am confused and my dealer says Yamaha does not have a fix and will not warranty a Hifax because it is a wear item.
First off I bought the sled new in January. At approximately 470 miles I had totally burned through both Hifax's. Yesterday I get home and now am at approximately 670 miles and the second set is almost all the way through and in need of replacement.
I live in Wyoming where the snow has been pretty good. I have heard they will burn up with low snow riding conditions and I totally agree. But I have been in powder and keep the track in as much snow as I possibley can at all times.
Is there something I can do about this. If I have to replace them 4-5 times a year that is obsurd. My dads 06 Apex is also having the same issue. I assume the 162" track does emit more heat and friction but I just don't get it.
I have been pointed to a product called Ice Scratchers. I am going to get some in the off season but I don't think they will fix the problem in these sleds as I have had very little low snow riding conditions.
Please help a sceptical new yamaha owner because I have already had idler wheels replaced and windsheild.
