I'm thinking of buying a '06 Vector Mountain from a friend of mine. The milage is approx 6,000km / 3,750 miles.

Any general concerns or issues with this particular model? I know the oil tank has been replaced once and it was covered by the warranty. Don't think there has been any other problems with this sled. At least my friend is not telling differently...

Any imidiate upgrades anyone would do on the '06 Vector, without going the turbo route..? Weight saving tips&tricks, etc?? :)

Thanks

PS: coming from a '96 Vmax 600 ST, the Vector would be an improvement anyhow :D

Welcome to the site!

Read Kachess post in the "RX/RS mountain talk". Plenty of mods for your sled.

A "Wildchild ride forward kit" (apex style bar posttion) is in my opinion the best mod on this chassie. Or buy a used D-frame and steering post from an apex.

Contact OBR on the forum or look at his add on www.autodb.no or www.hsperformance.no. He has a new Wildchild kit for sale

Thanks TT

I don't think I'm going as extreme as Kachess is taking his sleds... ;-)

Unfortunatelly I live down south in Norway and my sled will be all the way up north, so I'll mainly be riding it during Easter, spring and probably winter holiday. We do not have any huge mountains to climb so the sled will be used mainly for trail crusing, probably with a sleigh behind...

My friend says the Vector Mountain feels a bit front-end heavy, and that's why he is selling it, probably buying a new Ski-Doo or Lynx 2-stroke.

I was looking for easy and cheap mods to get rid of some of the front-end weight. The battery re-location by Kachess looks easy and only approx $100 for the smaller battery. BTW, does it work on the Vector as well? The Kachess mod was on a RX-1, right??

Maybe a pair of Fox Floats up front and lighter skis will also improve things a bit?? Anyone have any experience for the Vector Mountain on this?

Thanks :-)
