Hey guys, I normally hang out in the Nytro section reading all the problems my sled is prone too. My dad however just picked up a used 07 Apex er with 5,000 miles on it. What are some of the common problems with this year and things I should just replace before the next riding season?

Please do a search within this forum for results. and welcome to the APEX side the better half.

don't welcome me i'm staying on the other side. i love my nytro! I was just hoping to get a quick list of the basic problems ex handwarmers

A few things off the top of my mind......

1. Better skis or some other darting fix. I went with better skis for better flotation also.

2. Yamaheaters

3. Ice scratchers and/ or taller idler wheels for longer hyfax life.

4. Taller riser for better ergonomics

5. Firmer foam in seat

6. OFT steering blocks if lots of slop

7. Oillite front end bushings from Ulmer of a arms are loose

8. Rear mono shock revalve if still on original valving. And possibly a higher rate spring if he's a large guy

9. Something to help your dad with the permagrin condition he's gonna develop.

X2 Beef up the rear arms (halfbaked) is the best. Check the oil tank for cracking, donuts, maybe reinforce the rails to help not cracking.

Setting up the Mono Shock for his weight is important also. Otherwise known as the amount of sag. Raise sled measure length of spring. Lower sled have him sit on it with normal riding gear and re-measure spring. It should compress 40-45mm. If not you will need to adjust the preload to get in the range.

X2 on what super sled posted.

There are alot of opinions on the darting issue, shimming stock skiis, dual carbides, different skiis. I think you need to evaluate the type of riding he will do. I changed to Pilot skis and run shaper bars inside and out. It's what works for me.

Ski lift can be corrected several ways:
Flatten out the a-arms by raising the sled and loosening the springs until there is no free play.
larger sway bar.
limiter strap up one hole.

Really just take an evening and search thru this forum. There are lengthy details on all of these subjects. Sometimes though to much information, that can drive you bonkers.

Thanks guys for the information that was the kind of stuff I was looking for. I wasn't afraid to do my homework about this sled I just needed a little direction and what to look for.

How about a service manual? Anybody have this? Thanks again!
