07 Apex from 121 to 128

I am thinking about going from 121 and extending to 128 track. I added a rear cooler to my sled. My question is, will the 128" track hit the rear cooler?
 
I would think so unless you add a tunnel ext.
Why not go 136? Only gaining 3.5" more with the 128
 
I'm just curious as well. I've ridden several 121's in my day but never a 128. I can't imagine they are that big of a difference. What was it about the 136 you didn't like the feel of?
 
Get tipped up rails for 136 you won't notice it.
 
Ill have to look into that way then. I have the shorty extra rear cooler so then I would have to purchase the 136" cooler then I would think.
 
So...to go to a 128 were you going to use a monoshock 2 rear skid? If so....are these much better than a revalved 121 with ohlins? Say a guy had to put a track on a 2007 anyways. Is it worth finding a newer 128 skid?
 
I kind of went over this last year when I was in the market to purchase a used Apex. My plan was if I found a used one that was a 121, I would later long track it.IMHO the 121 was always too short for this machine and as we know in general 121's are going by the wayside. 128-129 are getting to be the norm for standard length tracks and skids. From talking to several people I found that it was a better option to buy the machine that was a factory long track so I did end up buying a 136 (Apex/Attak). The rear skid in the factory 136 is geometrically set up for the longer track with the swing arm pivot locations. Some people have mentioned a stiffer ride and track ratchet issues when they do the track extension kits going from 121 to 136, maybe it would be less noticeable though going from 121 to 128. I will say I haven't had any issues with corning with the 136 though. I think it would be if it were much longer though without tipped up rails.

I think what you are trying to do is make it 128 without doing the tunnel extension, right? If you do the extension I would talk to the people at tracksusa. They seem to be pretty up on this and should have some good advice for you.
 
No. I would do the 128, just worried about my track hitting my rear cooler. If that had an extention for the 128 I would do it so the cooler was not in the way
 
I wouldn't think it would hit. Your not gaining that much bigger of a footprint. I could be wrong as I haven't owned any 121" yamaha 4 strokes. Your studs might hit it though.

As far as changing the rear cooler unless theres something I'm missing you wouldn't have to do that. The extension holes might be a little different for the new type of apex vs old style but nothing you couldn't make work.
 
I am assuming the rear cooler was added to the 2007, I don't believe they came with one. Mine has one but the previous owner had it installed. My buddy has a 2008 Apex LTX (136) and it does not have one.

Ya back then they didn't come stock. If I remember correct it was 2010 they started putting them on .
