07 attak gt track suggestions

I am running a Ripsaw II on my Attak and I find it a big improvement over a regular Ripsaw.
But if I was going to be 50/50 trail and powder I would install a Cobra...they work very well off trail.

So after looking at the cobra it seems like a good looking track. I'm sure this is a dumb question but does anyone know where to get one at a reasonable price? Found a few on eBay for about $500 shipped but that's a little more then I was hoping to spend. I was hoping to find a takeoff one with a few miles but still in good shape.

Going to be tough to find a takeoff unless its a wrecked sled as anybody I know running a Cobra really likes them.

I believe the short track 129 and the LTX 137 2014 Vipers run the new Ripsaw II. They call them a 1.25" lug but inside at the spring show I thought they looked slightly deeper similar to a Cobra. Also the durometer of the rubber seemed a bit more flexible. I was wondering how the feedback would be on these newer tracks. I test rode a few new Vipers on a snow packed lake last weekend and they seemed to hook up very well with this track.

Remove the tunnel & front heat exchanger protectors and install the 1.75 back country track, if you want better off trail performance. For a better all around performance track go with the 1.5 intense I would recommend installing anti ratchet drivers also. I use stock drivers but it has slipped when hill climbing.

X2 on the 1.75 back country. I have it in my rx1 and love it. I ride 50/50 trails/off trail ond it does realy well in both conditions. You will however have to remove the tunnel protectors. My brother just put on a 1.5 intense on his F1000 and it made a world of difference also.

I run the 1.5" intense and find it to be a far better track on and off trail than the ripsaw. More traction when accelerating and braking.

In stead of starting a new thread I dug this one up.

I did buy a used Attak GT (2007) last season around late February...as mentioned in other threads. The sled is super clean, one owner, looks showroom. The guy only transported it to the UP from Madison,WI in an enclosed trailer and rode around 50 mph with his wife. It had 12,300 miles on it and I put about 1,000 miles on it in a month. Ran like a champ. I am doing some normal maintenance things to it now, clutch bushings, driver bearings, gonna pull skid and check all the wheels and bushings...all that. Exhaust donuts were done beforehand.

The stock Ripsaw is original and it looks perfect. I just want better hookup and missed out on Port Yamaha who had a bunch of Cobra 136" tracks on ebay for $450/free shipping. I ordered clutch parts today and their parts guy claims he has had warranty issues with Cobras and they don't really want to push those anymore. Mostly from guys on Apex type machines and marginal snow conditions. I used to run a short track version on my 2s Viper with no problems and a few of my friends run them on Attak's even one has a Super Charger on it with no issues. He said he would go for the Ripsaw II instead.

Any thoughts on the Ripsaw II vs. the Cobra on a 136 Attak? I ride around the Mpls area, northern Wi. and the UP of Michigan. Also I do not do a whole lot of off trail stuff. Mostly groomed trail and an occasional non aggressive venture around the powerlines in the UP.

One thing I noticed looking at the specs on these two track is the RS II 136" (9216H) weighs 45lbs , while the Cobra 136" (9061H) weighs 42lbs.

3lbs less of rotational mass for the Cobra.

I'm running the cobra 136" with 1.450 woody's signature series studs and air lite backers. Also running extroverts.

I ended up putting a 1.75 back country on mine. No snow yet to see what the difference is though.

I think I am leaning towards the Cobra. A couple friends already run it on their Attak's, one which is supercharged. They seem to have worked out very well without any failures. Two more guys that I ride with are in the process of installing Cobras on their Attak's too. I will be only one of two guys with the factory track out of 6 Attak machines in our group, but that other guy is studded, mine is not. The final price on the Cobra vs. the Ripsaw II is about the same for me. The extra 3 lbs for the RS II kind of bugs me because they always say rotational weight is a big factor. On the flip side I have always thought the Cobra fanned a bit more on top end. I had a short track Cobra on my 2 stroke Viper for the last few years and though it hooked up much harder, it did scrub top end vs. running the previous 1.25 Predator track. On another note , I have felt that the 4 stroke machines don't seem to suffer from this dilemma as much as a 2 stroke does. It could be the wide torque band of the 4-s motor. One of those friends I mentioned that has a Cobra on a 2007 Attak that is clutched nicely easily climbs to 120+ mph on the dream-o-meter on long straights, so to me that is pretty decent. We do like to ride in the Up of Michigan and the Cobra with a powder type ski seems to do really well around there. So no offense to the guys that are happy with their RS II tracks, I think the Cobra might be my best choice for where I ride.

I put an intense on my sled and lost close to 10 mph, that's a 1.5" but it hooks up really well and much better braking. Good off trail also.
