07 fx frame question

so i was just gandering at my newly acquired FX and i noticed next to the hood under where is says Yamaha the frame rails on both sides have like a half inch gap.. is that supposed to be there or have i been taken and have a broken frame?? they arnt jagged like a break so im hoping they are supposed to be there...
