07 Handwarmers!!!!

Can someone with a 07 Apex or Attak post a photo of the new grips and give an update? Do they get hot? If so how long does it take for them to get hot and are they comparable to the RX-1's as far as heat?
 
Wasnt there a thread on here a little while ago saying we are going to have to pay for this update? 125$ or somethen like that.....
 
The cost to update the 06's is supposed to be $30 plus labor. I'm just curious if they got it right on the 07's this time.
 
the 06 worked great around the house with no gloves and higher temps. i don't see how anybody will be able to give an accurate opinion unless they are out there trail riding.
at idle and below 4000rpm the grips really do not function. there is a relay to prevent power from going to the grips till the engine is spooled up. this is so the efi gets maximum power in case of a low battery.

Mine never worked well around the house even in the warmer months; at best they will get warm. The grips on my SX 600 will almost burn your hands after just a few minutes of idling without gloves.

i like the looks of them.one seamless grip and it looks to be like the soft compound .how do they feel compared to the 06 grip ?
 
I have never felt an 06 grip....I'm brand new to Yamaha myself. So I can't answer that question. I wouldn't say they're "soft" as in cushy/comfortable soft, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean. They certainly do feel "sticky" if that's what you mean. They are definitely NOT a hard rigid plastic. You can see how the material flexes around the wire in the picture...it seems stretchy to me. I'd maybe compare it to a bicycle tire inner tube material, but thicker.

Someone on my other thread (the "random thoughts..." one) expressed concern that they looked like they'd wear quick and be slippery. I honestly don't think getting a solid grip on the material will be an issue at all, whether the lines wear down with time or not. I see no reason to complain about them personally, but I obviously haven't ridden with them yet, and I don't know what you Yamaha guys are accustomed to for comparison.
