I was thinking of buying an 06 Venture, but after seeing the 07 today I may have to spend the extra $2k.

I took a look at the rear suspension and the track (both seemed to be the causes of any problems of the 06) and I was pleasantly surprised to see a couple of change that Yamaha made.

First was the extra set of wheels about 8 inches in front of the rear wheels and second was the fully clipped track. :-o Both of these improvements should help with the hyfax wear. Hopefully it will also help with the track howl, but we'll have to wait and see.

Thank you to all the 05/06 riders that have spoken to their dealers and to Yamaha. ;)!

I don't beleive I would spend $2,000 more for a set of wheels and a fully clipped track. Save the $2000 if you can find an 06 and just add the wheels or was there more modifications that you didn't list? Did the 2 grand include the Fox shocks and was it the GT model?

RS Venture006,

Concur with your observations. As I said before I saw the extra wheels on some sleds last year. This will definitely help the slide wear issue.

Hopefully, clips all the way around will help the track howl issue.

If you buy the 07, keep us informed. You must have been looking at a Venture GT. They are more expensive.

I am not totally sold on the GT concept. (My opinion.)

I am waiting for Yamaha to add fuel injection to the Genesis 120 motor.

If they don't fuel inject the Genesis 120 which is a possibility, I will be disappointed with Yamaha's decision.

In addition, Did you read my response to your heat cycle question in your previous thread?

Good luck with your purchase. ;)!

As for the sled I was looking at, it was the 07 RS Venture (not the GT).

I too asked the dealer about the possibility of Yamaha going to fuel injection and he said that it was unlikely. His impression was that the 120 worked very well as is and therefore Yamaha wouldn't likely change it. But again that was only his opinion.

hondo-
I did see your response to the "heat cycles"...Thank You.

Here is a GT above. Last year I think I saw this outfit have a new 06 RS Venture listed on ebay for around $7,700 at the end of the season. I talked to this guy before I purchased my 05 a year ago and at that time he stated that he ships the assembled sled in leftover watercraft crates. I can't remember what he does for sales tax. I think he was shipping them for around $400. Very nice guy to talk to on the phone.

;)!
That's great about the fully clipped track, good to know I can get one when mine needs replacing.

I saw an 07 Phazer Venture Lite at a show a couple of weeks ago and it looks like they went back to the solid plastic wheels, was that also true on the RS? I hope they improved them or it's deja vue all over again.

Hi Jeff,

I have been in to see my dealer a couple of times, and most recently today.

All the windows are open on Venture's track now however, every third window is clipped.

It doesn't make any sense.

Hopefully this will help the track howl issue. A fully clipped track would certainly be a more complete package.

Just wanted to pass on the info. ;)!

Here is what i am at with my 05 at this time as for updates:

open & clip the track = $100 (+ my time)
2 x 2006 rail + 4 good whells = $280
4 good wheels to replace existing cheap one = $100
13mm sway bar = $125
2007 rear shock = $325
rear cissor reenforcment = $0 (+ my time)

Well..... say a thousand.
The GT 2007 will get you 3 more improoved shocks. However, you will get cheap suspension (at $55 a pop) wheels where bearings are not replaceable.

Right, I have an '07 RS Venture GT, clip on every third window.

welterracer,

Yes, I had mine changed at 11,700 miles. The front end became way too sloppy for my comfort level. Took it to my dealer and his mechanic did the whole front end in about an hour. I had ordered all the bushings about a week prior to the change.

Between 7,000 and 10,000 miles the sled freed up which I call a "sweet-spot". The sled had enough play where it would handle and carve in the turns really well. After 10,000 miles the "sweet-spot" went way. Just had to ride it as it was until I found time to change the bushings. ;)!

Paul_C,

Please keep us informed throughout the season on your Venture GT's performance. I am sure all are interested to hear your thoughts. ;)!
