- 2018 SW RTX SE
Well I've had my 07 RTX for a week now and I managed to put 877 miles on it. Here are my feeling and observations on this sled so far:
Rear Suspension:
I came off a vector so the setup on the RTX is way better. I have it on medium and everything else is in stock settings. It is fantastic in the small stuff but in the big stuff it bottums out really easily. I set the blocks on hard one day and it was extremely rough in the small bumps and still bottumed out in the big stuff. The snow is melting really fast so I doubt i will get a chance to play with the rear shock this season.
Front Suspension:
I love the Fox Floats in the bumps! They came set up at 50 lbs so I left them. The sled rode and handled great until I added 6" carbides. The extra bit caused the sled to become tippy so I dropped the floats down to 40. I didn't like having them that low though, it was too soft for the bumps. I am going to add a 13mm sway bar for next year. Right now I have them pumped up to 100 lbs for back country riding and it does great in the rough! Sled handles 100 times better than my vector!
Engine:
This thing ROCKS!!!! I love the power on this sled. It is extremly addicting! This sled is way faster then my vector. Fastest I could get out of my vector on the trail was 104 on the dream-o-meter. I was trail riding yesterday and saw 122 in the dream-o-meter with my Apex. 18 mph difference and 122 was not all she had, I just ran out of room. I think that I had a vector that was made on a friday and an apex that was made on a thursday. Overall I am so pleased with my Apex's power.
Fit and Finish:
This sled is well put together and has clean lines. I only have 1 complaint, after 877 miles my black paint is already wearing off the tunnel. For the price of this sled it should have high quality paint on the tunnel.
Ergonomics:
This sled is the most comfortable sled I have ever ridden. I love the seat and handle bar combination on this sled! It is so easy to stand up and ride!
Fuel economy:
The RTX is way worse on gas than my vector. I am consistently getting 12-13 mpg when riding hard. When I was breaking it in I was beating rx-1''s. You can get good mileage with the apex but if you ride it fast it will drink alot. IMO its worth it for the extra omff you get compared to an rx-1.
Overall:
Overall I must say I am in love with this sled. I think it is a great package and you are getting a great deal when you buy one of these sleds. I love the way everything goes together. This is one sweet sled and everytime I look at it I have to smile. I think with the addition of a 13mm sway bar and some rear suspension adjustments, this sled will be perfect! I cant wait til next season already!
