07 RTX vs 07 GT-GT is faster!!

If two identicle riders are on 10 speed bikes and one is in 9th gear and the other is in 10th which rider will go faster?

All depends on at what rpms they make the most power and which gear gets you there for the conditions. Downhill with the wind behind you, the guy in 10th will probably go faster. Going up a bit of a hill or with the wind against you, the guy in 9th will probably go faster.

Its basically the same thing with a sled and knowing that 1:1 (or very close to it) at the clutches is the most efficient.

With the clutching tuned properly, 22/38 should be slightly faster on snow and 23/38 should be slightly faster on ice.

We swapped riders, conditions, etc. The GT's were always faster in the midrange and on top. Are you saying the gear change won't help the RTX's? I could feel the sled nose over on top. I would hit about 10,700 rpm's or higher on long runs.
Pete, you have a 68 link chain, and can even run a 24 top gear,as i had an attak that came with the same 68 link, and we ran 24 top as well as the 23 it came with, now i have an 07 rtx that came with the 22 top,and i may put the 24 back on,mine runs 11,100-11,200 all stock clutching, with 96 down the middle, and the best so far is 112 gps,snow/ice when it still was running a bare track.

At 11,100-11,200 you're throwing away hp for sure (and possibly reducing the life of the engine).

If that's what these things are running stock, we need to add some more weight to the weight tips.

Changing the gearing is one way to do it, but I'd rather keep my sled optimized for snow since that's where it runs. I also really like the low rpm engagement and ability to ride at very low speeds without slipping the belt.

How much weight do we have to add to the tip to get the 07 RTX to meet Yamaha's tuning specs (10,750 max)?

For those looking for a little more speed this should help.

If it was me,i would add 2 grms only in tip hole, take out tip rivet, make up a lead rivet of choice and you should be good to go.

The 06 apex gt's came with a 24 the 07apex gt's come with a 23 the same as the attack.
