ahhh what a time for my starter to fail. :whine: 1 week before a big 5 day tour planned and booked.
Heres my dilemma... my 07 VT Lite has chewed through 2 batteries (last year and this) before the dealer diagnose starter draw killing batteries. (draws 300crank amps)
They report starter not rebuildable and cost for new is $460 plus 6 hrs labour. (this is Canadian $)
I'm stumped and will not pay this kinda coin.
What recourse is there.
I've gleened they had a problem with these (starters)hfrom this forum but no one has said out right its a recall.
Whats the scoop on 07 Venture /Phaser starters?

Mine just died and my shop talked to the regional rep. Got them to good faith warranty the parts. Still on the hook for labor, but there is a guide posted here on how to do the work yourself if so inclined, otherwise its more like a 3hr job tops for a shop with a good tech. Good luck!

Thats a good sign so far, i'll take that same deal.
Where is your dealer?
(if we had the same rep...piece of cake!)

Is there a customer service # for Canada? If your dealer cant help you make sure to try it yourself by calling that Phone number. When you do get a new stater be sure to Loctite the bolts holding it together.

:jump:

My Dealer (HOE ) and Yamaha Canada came through ;)!
The Starter is being supplied under 'good will' warr and the dealer is co-oping the labour.
My faith has been restored...
